Looking to spend $400-$700 for a decent notebook to be used primarily for software development and graphics. Need some speed and horsepower, and durability. These things typically last me about five years, and this one here (a Sony Vaio) is nearing the end of the line.
Brands you'd recommend? Lenovo is highly regarded but very, very Chinese. I'd like to stay away from that. And I hate Apple with a passion.
This will be running Linux.
The price is still pretty high and I don't have a final quote for that server yet. If I buy from them I'll get the upgraded screen.
The HP EliteBooks on eBay sell for less and are very highly rated for Linux. Tempting, when every dollar counts for a small startup like us...
If we can finalize this and like what they send us (I'm sure we will based on reviews), I expect to be able to recommend them as a viable alternative to your typically Best Buy offerings.
How is your project going?
Has your equipment arrived? What do you think of it? Would it be easy to work on? If you can, post or email some pics.
Thanks
I’ll be happy to when they finally send it. Have to make trip to Seattle in a week; really hope it gets here by then...
Thanks.
Good luck on your project. What type of company did you start?
