When Knoxville Police Chief David Rausch announced in late January that the department would no longer use the .40-caliber Glock pistol that officers have carried since 2002, he didnt mention any problems with the gun.
Rausch said the replacement gun, a .45-caliber Sig Sauer, had more stopping power than the .40-calibers. Testing among officers also revealed they were more accurate using the Sig Sauer, he said.

They had 630 Glocks, and are replacing them with 225 Sigs? Something ain't Kosher.
If SIG made a 10mm with 15 round magazines, I’d own one of those, too. That said, my near 20 year old Glock mod 20 runs flawlessly, so I have no objections there. Could use more 10mm brass, though.
“I’ll take the Springfield XD/XDm over both of them any day based upon performance, reliability, maintenance, and cost.”
Amen to that FRiend.
I think the Sig is a great gun, but I’m left handed and the controls on the left side of the gun are a bit further aft than most handguns. That makes it more difficult for me.
Love my Sig P220 Carry!
I too moved from Glock to Sig.
While I’ve never liked the .40 cal compromise, the .45 cal Glock 36 is nowhere near as accurate as the Sig P220.
Weight, trigger smoothness, manufacturing quality, all mitigate in favor of the Sig accuracy.
I would suspect a malfunctioning financial recoil..
Yea it stinks doesn't it. The NG Armory has theirs under tight lock and key in a vault. In my 55 plus years living in this area the City Of Knoxville has not had reasons to need or use such a weapon in the line of duty. The militarization of civilian Law Enforcement Agencies is getting way out of hand.
The Oak Ridge DOE/DOE plants nearby by is a different matter. Actually with recent security issues there the DOD should be the facilities responding security with active duty armed forces.
