BH Interview: 'The Bible' Producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett Bring Grit, Love to Epic Miniseries

Producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey consulted with a battery of theologians while preparing The History Channel miniseries The Bible. The spiritually strong couple wanted to get every detail right for an adaptation of the most popular book of all time.

The couple also heeded the wisdom of their own teenagers who gently cautioned them not to make the special effects “lame.”

Burnett and Downey understand the potential impact of The Bible, the 10-part series which begins at 8 p.m. EST Sunday. They also grasp how impressionable viewers, particularly teens, could take the project to heart.

“There’s no way anybody could watch this and not get attracted to faith and feeling,” says Burnett, the reality show innovator behind Survivor and The Amazing Race.

Yes; our church is using it as an outreach...using clips from the mini-series to teach.

Apparently the producers of the project ARE BELIEVERS and so it can be trusted to be somewhat trustworthy.

Note: the History Channel’s “The Story of US”, a supposed overview of American history was a TOTAL piece of crap, Howard Zinn left-tard idiocy.

So I know why people are wary.

This is one time, I think, they are getting it right.

Of course, we’ll have to wait until it actually airs. :)

Yes, I will be watching. I am a big girl who can read the Bible for myself and I can decide what to think about the series. Unfortunately, we have too many who want to dictate to others concerning the interpretation of the Scriptures..It is high time someone produced something based on Christianity because the persecution of our religion is increasing. The left produces movies all the time to get a message out there and it works. These producers seem to be well known and were interviewed by O’Reilly a couple of nights ago. They were very interesting. I am looking forward to viewing this series and I am hopeful it will be a success.

By the way, anyone remember when it airs? Is it on Sunday, or is it today?

according to a review in "Christian Post" found on real clear religion, Roma Downey and her husband Mark Brunett have done a very good job on the telling of a complex book in a short series of programs.

I plan to give it a chance. I saw the producers interviewed at length recently. They plan on having very good special effects and, apparently, there was a team of 40 theologians on the project.

Here is a review done by Creation Ministries, Inc.... they have a very favorable opinion of it.

That’s pretty amazing considering what the History Channel does to anything else biblical.

I’m recording it to watch at my leisure. I’m also recording the new series “The Vikings,” which also starts on the same channel this Sunday.

Yes. I am also looking forward to their viking series. I just can’t figure out why they would run both on the same night.
