Then they stand a good chance of dying badly. Folks don't understand how rough NM can be. The poem talks about water crossings and not being able to use a paddle.

Dry arroyos are just about the most dangerous thing there, besides the sun, lack of water, too much water, poisonous plants and animals, large carnivores, haunta virus, plague, drunk indians, democratic government and... what the heck, the whole place is just dangerous.

But I do know where to buy cheap cigarettes and booze in the state. And where to get some great food.

Heh... I grew up in NM - it isn't that bad at all. But, you do have to keep your wits about you, and you do have to be careful.

From his 'hints' poem, I think I've a pretty good idea where it is - and it won't be easy to get there - it's a long way from home.

My bet though, is that there are a lot of people like me that can figure this one out - but, all of them will need a good metal detector - and a spade to dig it up. The trick is where to wave that detector around.
