The family has three young children, including one who is severely disabled. There’s not a lot of time for reading websites or much of anything else! I’m going to assume anyone questioning the parents has had the good fortune not to have raised a disabled child. It is a 24/7 job all by itself.
In this case, the family had already cleared the screening; it was only an overzealous agent who decided the little girl looked like a terror threat who required further scrutiny.
It’s as if these agent have NO sense of judgment. One of my adult sons is traveling next month from VA to GA and chose to travel by train rather than deal with TSA. That despite the air fare being less than Amtrak and the time being about 1/3 by air.
tsa spread is extending to amtrack, unfortunately.
I hear you on time factor. It’s just unforetunate if in all the details they had to tend to to put this trip together they neglected this critical point.
The video I reference above gives alternate process, including “Kinda weird, isn’t it, buddy?” and I imagine a later age-appropriate discussion w/their children about government intrusion. (Side point, thank God for fathers and their input into their children’s lives.)
