“sometime between 660 and 860 A.D., a period when the nearby city-state of Teotihuacan had already declined but the Aztec empire, founded in 1325, was still centuries in the future. “

“There were also indications that the site remained a ceremonial spot for centuries after the human sacrifices ended, and perhaps is still used for that purpose. Morehart said researchers found a plastic bag containing a black candle, an egg, and paper streamers wrapped around photographs of people at the site, what one local worker suggested was a form of witchcraft.”

Are they sure those skulls date that far back? Can’t help but wonder if they are a little more recent. Maybe Montezuma the drug dealer did this.

“There were also indications that the site remained a ceremonial spot for centuries after the human sacrifices ended..."

Why must these self-important "scientists" always pound their preconceptions into every discovery they make?

These savages were bloodthirsty animals in routine matters, and on a killing spree most of the time. Beheading was a common method of killing their enemies, and different regional groups were constantly at war with every other group.

No "sacrifice" of any sort is needed as a rational explanation. They had to get rid of enemy remains somewhere.

Simple as that.
