Because they know God, or have been raised by someone who knows God, or has a role model who knows God.

Moved to coastal NC in the late 80s, after having lived in DC, Philly and Honolulu. The NC folks were so friendly at first we thought they were putting us on. I've had to leave a couple of times since for work reasons, but we can't wait to go back for good. I think a lot of it is that Southern folks assume you will be your friend until proven wrong. It's the opposite in other places, and to top it off, in large urban areas they figure they will never see you again, so who cares? Some people think Southerners are phony, but they are wrong. Southerners care, and they have a philosophy they live by. I work contracts all over the US, and Wisconsin, Missouri, Tenn and Kentucky all have a big thumbs up from me as too. If you get to the Ft. Knox area, don't miss the Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot. Best people ever there as well.
