There is a reason they call the .45 ACP “The Flying Ashtray” 9mm is not a dependable stopping round. (In some cases)

This gal has some fragile arthritic hands which I’d like to be able to play music with...and I’m looking at a Sig 250. What do you think for weak, sore hands?

I’ve been looking at the Springfield XD-S. Looks like a nice CC weapon.

Smart wife. You are blessed.

One round of a .45 ACP in the shoulder will disable the bad guy enough to give her control.......

Got the full size version of that in .40. Easy to strip for cleaning, never had FTF or FTE, and looks doggone sexy as well.

Only I don’t like how snaggy the safety switch “ears” are when racking the slide back. Since buying mine, I coulda swore I saw one new that came with no slide safety at all. Would love to trade but may just go for custom grinding if I make any changes.

Early on, I was also interested in lightening the trigger pull. The smith I consulted said it was too new a model for Beretta to offer a lighter swap, and he didn’t trust himself to try the technique he found on the Net.

Despite those niggly details, I love the gun and bought its CX4 buddy that takes the same mags. That pistol was my first in a buying spree that began with O’s first election & the loss of what had been my career. *shrug*

Does your wife’s have the frame rear-mounted safety or no? She enjoying it?

Anybody have any experience with this weapon?

Years and years ago during a training class, I listened to the teacher make an interesting statement about what kind of shirt to wear when shooting one of these. He said wear a T-Shirt or button up your shirt when shooting.

So I had an IZod mostly buttoned up and took my turn Squeezing off a few rounds. Sure enough, an empty ejected, flipped straight up, and landed in the space between the top button of my shirt and my neck, and went right down.

HOT!HOT!HOT! I exhaled strongly, calmly laid the .45 on the platform and took two steps back. "AHHHHHH!!!!" I yelled as I shook the hot round out. Much laughter, including my own followed...

The instructor said "That's how you handle a situation like that responsibly. He put the gun down facing down range, evacuated the firing line and dealt with the problem." I got to shoot several extra clips for free. Ouch.

Somehow I don't think that was the experience you were looking for, but it may help your wife some day. CHEERS!

My 9 is loaded with Federal +P hydra shock hollow points when at home with two additional mags right next to it.

The .45 is better home-defense round than a 9mm which has over-penetration properties. Although I’m not familiar with the gun she bought, the .45 is what I would have recommended. A .40 may also have been a good choice.
