OUTSTANDING POST!!!
And dead on with how foreign women look at their local men.
What I like to point out is that in the old country, for those women, divorce is looked up with shame and embarassemnent to the women. People ask why she wasn’t a good wife, why didn’t she attend to her husband’s need, etc. (pretty much what Dr. Laura says, by the way). That’s certainly the case in my wife’s (foreign-born) family where she has 12 siblings and zero divorces...would you want to be the first to divorce in that situation?
In the United States, if your husband doesn’t like your nail color the first thing that your friends say is DIVORCE HIM, TEACH HIM A LESSON. Similar for the wife’s family, in many cases. In the US, divorce is looked upon by women as a ticket to wealth and freedom. It’s no wonder that men don’t have a chance.
The legal system gave us this NIGHTMARE by making divorce profitable for one side. It is up to the legal system to fix it - and if they don’t (which will probably be the case), men would be nearly insane to participate in it.
I won’t get married. Screw that. If there was a roller coaster where fully 50% of the cars went flying off the tracks, and the man was usually horribly mangled, lost his guns via a TPO, and who’s house was stolen .... but the woman landed on pillows and then found a winning lottery ticket... I would N E V E R get on that ride.
