My husband and I have been married going on 29 years. I have an MBA...but, I only worked about 5 years of our marriage...well, OUTSIDE of home. (I worked for 15 years prior to that, much of that as a single Mom). I really hated corporate work, and decided my job was to help HIM in HIS job...so, we have moved, lived in Canada, and he has spent months away at times, and we had to be flexible. Luckily, too, my previous work gave me experience in salary negotiation, so he earns more than he probably would have, because I INSISTED he ask for more, and he got it! My role is pretty traditional (I do most of the cooking/cleaning/etc.) We don’t have kids (I have son from prior marriage). I really LIKE being at home, pursuing politics, and keeping us healthy...plus I am the Caretaker of the house (maintenance wise) pretty much. In other words, I am, as I have told him, “the perfect wife.” LOL. It hasn’t always been easy, but we are happier now than ever.
I’m really happy for you! I’ve often struggled thinking I was lazy etc for not WANTING a career. You and I are truly blessed! And we both know the secret, we not only love our spouses, we believe in them, support them and above all else, respect them.
