I was a fan of radio even before that.. I liked the shows -- and the news broadcasts even as a grade-schooler.

I understand of course that no one is calling for an end to Drudge, WND, whoever.

However I've heard similar thoughts expressed about conservative talk radio on conservative talk radio; to wit, "expert" consultants are telling broadcasters that the public is tired of Obama, Obama, and "foreboding impending doom."

I say just as the "Fairness Doctrine" was used by liberal/progressives to threaten the licenses of radio station owners --

• "You might also think that they would recall the notorious Fairness Doctrine, which was used to 'harass and intimidate' right-wing radio broadcasts, in the words of one unabashed Kennedy-Johnson operative. When that censorious policy was ended in 1987 by former broadcaster Ronald Reagan, there was an explosion of talk formats that gave voice to popular concerns (for a while, Rush Limbaugh even billed himself as equal time)."
• As reported by Fred Friendly in his book appropriately entitled The Good Guys, the Bad Guys, and the First Amendment, this was part of a "massive strategy . . . to challenge and harass the right-wing broadcasters and hope that the challenges would be so costly to them that they would be inhibited, and decide it was too expensive to continue." This strategy was said to have been successful in almost all respects.

I praise Drudge and all the others because I had the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, and almost all of the 1980s when it was dangerous for radio station owners to permit any argument against liberalism. ("One hour a week on PBS of William F. Buckley's Firing Line was all the fairness conservatives needed. By golly.")

Again, I understand of course that no one here is calling for an end to Drudge, WND or whoever. But there are many dedicated to the cause to end all conservative access to the media -- an end to yet another inalienable right.

Talk radio doesn’t have out of context pictures, mainly because they don’t have pictures on talk radio.l

Drudge has become a propagandist. Manipulating news headlines via out of context photos that imbue a false sense of emotion about the topic.

SNL, comedy channel, MTV, they all do it for comedic laughs, Drudge is doing it to manipulate.
