When we moved here from California, one of the things that astounded me was that the grass is green under the snow, and it was still green in the spring when the snow melted.
I was amazed that it would not only survive the winter, but also be alive and eager to make Bryan mow it again (grow fast).
It’s really cool. There is an instant green lawn in the spring (and for the January Thaw, as you can see).
Our grass becomes dormant and, thank heaven, doesn’t need to be mowed until March or April. It’s still lovely to look at.
