I think Tom has an idea on the “unused” brain, but...According to the Bible, (I learned this in Catholic High School, FYI) the Tower of Babel marked the division of “races by language.”
The “confusion of tongues” was deliberate to prevent another ‘Tower of Babel’ from being erected. It infers that God was so unhappy with the mindless intent of a people who want to find Him that he determined not to let it happen again.
And then there was The Flood. It dispersed the peoples into separate areas of the earth, even though they began in one place - where the Ark was built. Who is to say that languages were or were not created because of a local influence? We have so many dialects here, in the Good Ol’ US of A, that some areas could be considered to have languages in themselves.
However, that doesn’t explain my own history. When I first went to Germany, I wanted to respond to a German comment with a Spanish answer, it being the most recent foreign language I had heard. The thing is, there are so many root words in both languages that I wonder how folks from “outside” could not be made to feel at home.
Perhaps my ability to understand more than I could speak was part of a language “software” that had been passed down to me, like the memories of a forebear. (Something I don’t discount!)
Pat’s invisibility has more to do with his innate ability to manipulate the minds of those around him than any electro-direction. I can always see him. Mostly because his mind and mine are simpatico! LOL!
Pat probably just wants you to see him.
