Actually, it is the carbines that kick like mules. The rifle is much tamer because of the nice, long barrel.

I fired a friend’s M-N 44 carbine at the last Texas Cowboy Memorial Shoot, and I laughed with the guys who thought it was quite amusing that it knocked me back a bit each time. But I’m ‘way to heavy to be knocked down by it. I’m two of you, Darks.
