I think you could get the Palm to sync by Cable if you didn't have a 64-bit computer, which is why I guessed what I guessed.
Warning, make double-danged-sure the vendor knows what they're doing. I ordered one that was specifically advertised as 64-bit and they shipped the wrong one. They replaced it quickly enough, but it was a pain to keep waiting.
I had the PalmPilot, so there was no cost involved, but the racing data program was $100. And then there was the Bluetooth device. And frustration. And gasoline to come back and forth.
*sigh*
