Some things about the US amaze me:

I found some cheap liability insurance online, so Mr. Bill the Beastie is insured as of midnight. Monday, I will take it for the smog test at the local Jiffy Lube, and Tuesday or Wednesday I will get it registered.

No Insurance ,No Tax, No MOT (safety test), and Unregistered.
And yet Mr Bill has been out for a test run.
Here the 'Stazi' could catch you and hang you out to dry as you arrived at the first junction/intersection.

I will have to wait to get the Bluetooth, though. If anyone calls while I’m driving, they will have to wait until I find a parking spot to answer. Pulling off the road is not a legal option.

Pulling off the road is not a legal option.
Wow! even the 'Stazi' haven't yet made the Cellphone laws that restrictive.

Two total contradictions in action, there. Awesome.

Mr. Bill the Beastie was insured and registered in another state, and there is a 30-day grace period here, where we can drive while getting all the things in place.

In Nevada, if you drive with a cell phone in your hand, and you get pulled over, the first offense is a $25 fine. The second offense is $200, and they will go up from there. The more times you do it, the higher the fines are. So it’s either Bluetooth or shut the phone off, even if you encounter emergency situations.
