I had not heard that from Voltaire, so I looked it up. It turns out that’s what I’ve been doing all along. I am largely self-taught. I hated school so much!

I was an education junkie. I had over 200 semester hours under my belt before 1993. Got hooked on distance learning in the ‘90’s and online courses after that that gave me more marketable skills. (Did mid-life career switch so that was necessary—lots of course completion and skills enhancement but no college credit—since functionality and performance were the meaningful elements in the equation, and since my job offered tons of educational opportunities at no cost whatsoever to the employee other than hours off the job devoted to same since they piled so much work on us that there was no way I could do coursework on the job—I racked up a pile of job-specific competencies as well as record-breaking fatigue.) Nothing, however, has cured the run-on sentences. Being self-taught is so efficient. If you did it online or by reading, you eliminate commuting time right off the bat. Distractions are minimized, etc. Self-taught is the way to go for some of us!
