She didn't know what landmine she had triggered. Most don't. If most people knew how many landmines I have buried deep in my psyche I would probably have been euthanized by now. The triggers are hard to predict but easy to trip. The words were out. "Perhaps I've overstayed my welcome," she said. She had no idea what she was saying. They never do. But events were set in motion that could not be unset. The apology changed nothing. I had no more power to stop them than the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

Once one of the mines is triggered, it is relentless.

I never followed through on this and I made SG nervous. So, to continue.

Once one of the mines is triggered, it is relentless.

He put down his tools and surveyed the tiny robotic spider he had just built. He checked the monitor, the camera resolution would be perfect. He dimmed the lights to verify its low light operation. He satisfied himself that he would be able to pilot the spider in anything but the blackest night. Only one more task to complete this step in his plan. The venom must be indistinguishable from a natural spider venom. He knew how to extract it, but his pet fiddle-back would not be happy.

That didn't bother him. He had long since given up trying to make others happy.
