That would have been fun, too. Tom tried to set sugar on fire - they told him in his science lab that it would work - but it just turned brown and oozed a bit.
Sugar wll burn, but needs a oxidizer to really go.
Potassium perchlorate, potasium nitrate, chlorine.. but the last one is iffy.
