I don’ kno’ ‘bout no Kindle. I’m like that lawyer on STTOS. BOOKS!

(Also, I haven’t convinced Mrs. ArGee that I have a valid need for a tablet yet.)

If you read for pleasure, you NEED a Kindle or a Nook. Trust me: I’m a mother. I need both, as well as a good supply of paper books, just because I like turning pages!

Mrs. ArGee should sit with me while I serve her chocolate chip cookies and hot chocolate laced with rum. She would eventually see things my way, I promise! ;o]

Books

Books in boxes. Books in racks.
Books in hallways. Books in stacks.
Books on shelves and closets tall.
Books on every patch of wall.

Books where sunlight makes them fade.
Books around that I’ve mislaid.
Books my wife has gathered in.
Books beginning now to win.

Taking over in my life,
Books now keep me from my wife.
In the doorway of the den,
Stacks of books have grown again.

I go around the other way,
Easing back to hit the hay.
Unless subtly they have crept,
Into the space where once I slept.

Striving now to find a nook,
Not encumbered by a book,
I subside into my chair,
To find a book is waiting there.

Some few minutes reading now,
Will help me with my sleep somehow.
And when I nod and stiffly wake,
I’ve lost my place, for Heaven’s Sake!
