Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedevs off-air comments that Russian Presidents are given a secret file about extraterrestrials living among us created much media interest. Most news reports claimed that Medvedev was simply joking. His apparent reference to the Men In Black movie as a source of information on a super secret agency that monitors extraterrestrials on Earth was commonly cited as key evidence that he was in fact joking. The reasoning is that no political leader would refer reporters to a comedy to clarify national policy. It has now emerged that Medvedev was not referring to the Men in Black comedy after all, but to a recent Russian television documentary titled Men in Black that reveals many details about an extensive cover up of extraterrestrial life visiting Earth.
However, a more accurate translation of what Medvedev actually said about the Men in Black phenomenon was: You can receive more detailed information having watched the documentary film of the same name. So Medvedev was referring to a Russian documentary film titled Men in Black, not the Hollywood blockbuster by the same name...
Russian Men In Black (MIB) documentary, a number of prominent UFO cases in Russia and the USA are discussed. The Roswell UFO crash is covered, along with a number of extraterrestrial abduction cases, and UFOs disabling nuclear weapons facilities. The documentary examines testimony that extraterrestrial bases have been established on Earth, and that some are in restricted US military areas with the full knowledge of the Pentagon. The documentary even goes on to seriously discuss President Eisenhowers alleged meeting with extraterrestrials, where agreements were reached with some of the visitors giving them permission to take some of the Earths resources in exchange for advanced technology...

I’m sure they both got through. Neither of them is as hefty as my catz.
Wiki lists Arthur Conan Doyle as one of the suspected hoaxers. Charles Dawson (an in-law) is listed as the most likely hoaxer. I doubt ACD fell for it because (I think) he did not believe in evolution.
Quote from ACD’s bio on Wiki:
“Richard Milner, an American historian of science, has presented a case that Conan Doyle may have been the perpetrator of the Piltdown Man hoax of 1912, creating the counterfeit hominid fossil that fooled the scientific world for over 40 years. Milner says that Conan Doyle had a motivenamely, revenge on the scientific establishment for debunking one of his favourite psychicsand that The Lost World contains several encrypted clues regarding his involvement in the hoax.”

I just got tired of friends of friends or relatives of relatives cluttering up my page. The bad thing is, I’m not savvy enough to delete posts that I’m not interested in, and not interested in the lives of strangers who insist I should like them because they are the friend of a friend of a friend of mine, whom I seldom see and talk with less.
It’s cruel to people I know and like, but short of imploding with all the useless information the site attracts, it was easier to deactivate the account. Nothing personal...FReepers RULE!
Well, it would explain why I didn’t see you there during the Great FR Server Crash.
Another reason not to join FB. The only positive would be the group my Weight Watchers leader runs. Sally just said I could visit with the relatives on my husband’s side. (Let’s just say that’s not a selling point ...)
I hadn’t cancelled at that time, but I didn’t go there, either. I was having my own personal crash, so it was probably better that I not subject other people to it.
When I’m not feeling well, I can get pretty mouthy, and it’s not pretty. Times like those, it’s better to stay to myself.
:o|
I’m sorry to hear that. Well, my r/t friend that unfriended me denied doing it, so I wrote her off for good. Didn’t need to lie to me to compund things. Cut your losses, as they say.
I hope you are feeling better now. Ever get your Palm to work?
Funny you should mention the Palm...
In desperation, I finally sent for a Bluetooth adapter, and just got it today. I don’t know if I will be up to installing the program and playing with it today (a little spinal arthritis pain nagging at my back) but I will see how I feel in the morning.
Some days, when trying to do something new, I have panic attacks, and that ruins everything. :o[
Take a Xanax and call me in the morning. :^)
*shudder*
I don’t take prescription meds because the side effects do such horrible things to me, all because of CFIDS. What is a normal dose for you could be an overdose for me or it could be totally ineffective. And the side-effects are amplified.
So I have to ride it out on my own. Some days, I can do it with some logical thinking and having something soothing...cocoa or tea, and if that doesn’t work, then I just deal with it.
I’m surprised I ever go anywhere or do anything...
That worked for me, although the clueless company sent me a 32-bit adapter the first time. Once you get the right adapter you have to line the Palm up with the bluetooth adapter just-so.
To get to a Redbox or Blockbuster, we’d have to drive about 30 miles, round trip. The gas would cost about $5.65. We live in the middle of nowhere and must take that into account.
Then why would you want to watch DVDs? Those are for people who have nothing better to do. Out in the middle of nowhere EVERYTHING is better to do.
Of course, you can go into town to watch movies at the theater, but that's so you can interact with other people.
I’ve seen Redbox and Blockbuster all over town, but I am loath to rent a movie that is good enough to buy. Which is why I have Amazon! About twice a year, I treat me to a movie I want in my collection. :o])
Luckily, I was presented with choices that I could understand, and make an educated selection. Being able to install the CD-ROM and follow the destructions may be another thing.
(Stay tuned, if you’re curious...)
Of course, you should know that this whole thing with the PalmOne is not for me, but for the Busdaddy, who has a bracket racer that he plays with in his spare time. Someone told him the PalmOne was a handy thing to have at the track, and being the more computer literate of the two of us, I was elected to try and make it all work.
All this is to say: Whatever is needed for winning at the track, he gets to pay for, whether it is a new tow-hook, a front spoiler or a PalmOne adapter. I think the engine is currently around 900+ H P.
That's a pretty powerful Palm One. I have a Palm Z-22. I don't think it's got a hoof's worth of horsepower. But it's OK for my electronic Bible and my Sudoku game.
One of these days it will die, and I will be sad.
My daughter still has her Centrino. She tried to replace it with a newer phone, then sent the newer phone back. Occasionally it won't let her type 3 or so keys, but she still loves it.
Personally, I don't get that attached to technology. It doesn't live long enough.
I mis-remembered - the adapter I got was infra-red. My Z-22 doesn't have blue teeth.
Afternoon, techno-types. I’ve had a shower, and now I’m heating frozen pizza. The Offspring cleaned up the garage, which was in a drastic catastrophe after we got the rear seat of the van out from under everything last week. Of course, they’ll just have to do it again if we need the rear seat again next week ...
Also, I took Elen to Payless and got her a pair of sneakers, and Anoreth got her wisdom teeth out.
I hate theaters. I feel like I am walking into a Roach Motel, with the sticky floors. The places are literally crawling with disease.
No, Miss Slippy and I prefer to buy our Blu-Rays. We just got Atlas Shrugs part 2, so we’re going to start with re-watching part 1 tonight....
Heh. You said "destructions." I say that.
*snert* The 900+ H P refers to the race car engine. Sorry. Some days, only the voices in my head make sense. When I’m forced to type what they say, they play tricks on me.
The PalmOne is a Zire72. And for the moment, at rest.
