They are so sweet!
Morning!
14 hours left on library book. + It’s raining. = I get to read all day. Yahoo!
Then, I get to cook kale harvested yesterday, make a mixed-veggie quiche, and enjoy. Doesn’t get any better.
What are we doing for Kathleen’s birthday?
Will check back later. Have a great day!

Enjoy the book!
We are going to a church committee meeting most of the day for Kathleen’s (and James’s) birthday ;-).

If the days are getting longer now, how come I have less and less time?

Bob, I know this will make no sense, but the answer lays somewhere out there in the time-line zones. Cue spooky music.

That’s the cutest thing I’ve seen this year.
(I miss the Facebood thread, even though)

I think the real answer is that I have gotten a lot more proficient at frittering.

I will be down next Friday for a couple of days.
This may give me an opportunity to finish Anna Karenina. This book is longer than most Bibles and the characters spend most of their time eating meals and making metaphors about Russian society.

Maybe I’ll get the CD version, if the library has it. I wish they’d get “The Crimean War” on CD: it’s hard for me to read really big books, because I drop them on Kathleen.
Just let us know your progress, and phone your grandmother. We’ll get beer.

There, I’m #12 on the list for the CD, which is over 38 hours long. The catalog shows that half the copies are overdue!

The paper copy of the book could double as a murder weapon or doorstop. I got it on Kindle and I have been reading it for an hour every day this week and am only about 5 percent through it.
Tolstoy writes very interesting characters, but I don’t like any of them.

I’m all for a long, involved plot with lots of sitting around bickering over the dinner table, but if I don’t like any of the people, I won’t get through the first disk.
You should get The Crimean War by Orlando Figes. I read two of his other books about Russia which weren’t quite so large (and one was paperback).

These are the Russian upper class. They go out for every meal apparently.
Actually in the beginning the cook at their house quits, so maybe that is why they are always eating out. Also they drink at every meal and in their government offices.
