Afternoon! Next trip is to Jamie-out-hairdresser, with Bill, for haircuts. We’re supposed to get the bad weather around 5:00 here; I just got an email from the church saying classes are cancelled tonight, which doesn’t affect me, but may mean Tom’s youth leadership meeting also won’t happen. I told him to email or Facebook or something and find out.

Ferocious wind and electrical storm last night.

Don't know what happened to the electrical storm part, but you seem to have sent the wind part our way...

Got this pop-up from AccuWeather that says: ...HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 AM EST THURSDAY... LOCATIONS...INLAND SECTIONS NORTH AND WEST OF THE NEW YORK CITY METROPOLITAN AREA.

“I have a box running a Linux distro (Mint13) right now “

rm*, it’s a cussword!
A dread invokation of cyclopean horror, invoking a nebula of pain!
Especially if some clown types it in from root.

Dos 6, gack.
Yes, I do recall seeing that laying around somewhere.
Also the whisperings and dark malignance that seems to writhe from it.

“Binding darkness” is right! Dang! Because of CFIDS, new procedures and concepts are difficult for me to understand, accept and use, but the hardest thing I’ve done for a while is trying to navigate Win 8 cold. I had no idea there was even such a thing on the market. It was only after my “introduction” to it that I began to see ads for it on TV. How much sense does that make?

*shudder*

I dread the day I will have to replace this laptop...everything on my slave is Win 7 and I’m not sure any of it could be saved if I had to convert it all to WIn 8. Scary, I tell ya.

I know exactly where Microsoft is located. In fact, I have a relative (who shall remain nameless) who has worked for Mr. Bill for many years. Although she lives in the PR of W, she is true to her heritage and is conservative. However, she knows what to kiss and when, which is why she is doing so well. ;o]

I intend to treat Win8 just as I did WinVista and WinME... with benign neglect. That's why I still have a couple of XP copies still lying around (so I could avoid Vista but could retire Win2K) and that's why I'll be grabbing a couple of oem's of Win7 to tide me over until Win9 (assuming M$ sees the error of its ways and returns to sanity) or do a major revision of OS's...

And the allusion to the Rings is probably real close to the truth... ;-)

The story is told of a helicopter tour of Seattle that found itself suddenly caught in a rapidly developing fog. In moments the chopper was hopelessly engulfed with visibility limited to less than 100 feet. They were already low on fuel and began to worry that they would not be able to find the heliport in time. Fortunately, they happened upon a tall office building where many people could be seen working on one of the floors.

After hovering outside for a few minutes, people started to look out the window. The pilot signaled with his flashlight until several of them came over to the window to see what was going on.

The pilot held up a sign that he had made that said "Where are we?" One of the people grabbed a small whiteboard and wrote on it. He held it to the window to reveal the answer, "You're in a helicopter."

The passengers groaned. This looked like the end. To their surprise, the pilot waved to the people and immediately flew directly to the heliport and landed the chopper. As they got off, one of the passengers asked, "How did you figure out how to get to the heliport?" "It was easy," the pilot said. "I asked a very simple question. In reply, I got a perfectly accurate and totally useless answer. That informed me I was outside Microsoft's Tech Support facility. I just happened to know how to fly to the heliport from there, so here we are."

My Nephew worked for M$ when he lived out west somewhere, but recently changed companies and has moved from the left coast liberal lala land to that other stronghold of lib dumbness known as Massachusetts..

Unfortunately, I think he's a lib anyway so he's in his comfort zone ;-)

It was 34 when I got up this morning, and has now warmed up to a balmy 52...bring out the bikinis and sunscreen!

I need a haircut...I’m beginning to look shaggy, now, after the Worst Haircut In the History of the World, but I don’t want to get a new haircut until this mop grows out enough to actually style. I’m thinking it should be just about time for my trip to NC... ;o]

Mt. Charleston looks very pretty, with all the snow!

I don’t have a titanium and durasteel leg unfortunately.
If I did, the snake wouldn’t have alarmed me half as much.

I would love to have a copy (or two) of Win 7, just because I will need it to retrieve all the data that has been saved. At this point, with 3TB of space, I’ve used a whopping 3%. No way I want to give up on Win 7.

However, I’m afraid that the copies of Win 7 will now become as scarce as frog hair and hen teeth, and the few that will be found will cost a King’s Ransom. :o|
