The following is not about gun control or any lack thereof, but of Piers Morgan’s inability to research and apply such study to the laws and customs of a country in which he is only a guest.

Mr. Morgan, for all of his bluster about how he knows history and how he knows best, is shockingly light on U.S. History.

It seems in 1776 there was a bit of a dust-up over the british telling us what to do and how to govern ourselves. For some reason, this entire kerfuffle appears to have eluded Mr. Morgan’s notice, as he clearly feels that Americans are suddenly ripe for having the british tell us how to govern ourselves. He is badly mistaken.

If he really wants to be in a society that severely restricts guns, there are flights departing almost hourly for London. He should feel free to book a first class ticket (I’m sure many here would gladly donate to that fund) and take his “arse” back over the big pond to where guns are rare and largely illegal...but there are still gun related massacres, as well. See also: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunblane_school_massacre

Seems to be proof that this fantasy of his that banning guns will prevent school shootings is factually incorrect and proven historically wrong IN HIS OWN COUNTRY. In the mean time, his efforts seem far better used to boost his failing ratings, not trying to tell people in a country he is not a citizen of how to run their country. Calling a guest on his show “an incredibly stupid man” only betrays Mr. Morgan’s own lack of intellect about how this country runs and was founded.

The laws in America, and the government itself, only derive their just powers form the consent of the governed, not by legislative fiat by someone whose sole authority to govern was winning the lucky sperm competition some years ago.

The Declaration of Independence and the U-S Constitution, which guarantees our right to have these weapons, were written because the people who founded this great country were tired of the british and their laws and wanted a new set of rules for over here. If the british had it so right, why did people seek to leave at the cost of their own lives in many cases? Yes, our laws are largely derived from british common law, but things like the right to keep and bear arms were a direct attack against the bad old ways of jolly old england.

The miracle of satellite communications should make it very easy for Mr. Morgan to relocate back to England and continue his gebfest here, where he can cloak himself in the protection that gun bans provide there. Just try not to bring up Dunblane. He probably would consider someone bringing proof—from england—that his idea won’t work as “an incredibly stupid man”.
