Those weren't necessarily bad movies...but they were utterly boring. There should be a separate category for big budget movies that were highly praised but exceptionally soporific. "2001", "Citizen Kane", "Gandhi", and that flick with Ralph Fiennes in the Sahara have you nodding off and looking at your watch wondering when the whole overproduced mess will mercifully end before the entire audience is sound asleep.
p.s. Fienne's flick was "The English Patient." I almost fell asleep thinking about it.
