We are the National Rifle Association, not the National Republican Association. In the real world, it is necessary to work with Democrats especially when the Republicans keep shooting themselves in the foot. It is, furthermore, extremely useful to prevent this issue from becoming strictly a Republican versus Democrat issue. If this were strictly a Republican versus Democrat issue, we could anticipate being about as effectual as the pro life movement. It's useful to have influence with both parties and this may be the only thing that actually preserves our RKBA after all of this.

We are the National Rifle Association, You're apparently the National Assault Weapons Ban Association ... see quote from the 2012 Democratic National Platform, which your NRA A+ Rated, Endorsed Hero Joe Manchin supported by running as a democRat.
Quit trying to defend the indefensible. You, and the NRA in general, would be far better off to admit that you screwed up. It would have the benefit of being honest.
