How many votes does single director of the NRA have?
I’m working on paying off my life membership.
Please, at least make a lame attempt to mask your ignorance.
Certainly one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any government, no matter how popular and respected, is the right of citizens to keep and bear arms . The right of citizens to bear arms is just one guarantee against arbitrary government, one more safeguard against the tyranny which now appears remote in America but which historically has proven to be always possible.
Hubert H. Humphrey
All of them.
Great! If all gun owners belonged to some gun group you wouldn’t hear a peep out of one elected scumbag!
Obviously the majority aren't that interested in preserving the 2nd Amendment.
I quit the NRA when I learned that Grover Norquist, (Married to a muslim, founder of the islamic institute, policy maker, agenda setter, lobbiyst and overall heavy hitter for the American soil based muslim terrorist front group, C.A.I.R. was an NRA board member!!!! The NRA knew full well of his anti-American dealings. They did not care. (I was informed by the NRA, at the time when I quit, of this thought of their’s. Direct NRA rep’s quote: “Sir the NRA does not care what it’s board members do on their own time”. End quote.) Nice huh?
Concerns have been raised in response to statements made by NRA Board Member Joaquin Jackson to Texas Monthly in 2005. We have received inquiries seeking clarity as to NRAs positions on the subject matter discussed in Mr. Jacksons interview. To be clear, NRA supports the right of all law-abiding citizens to Keep and Bear Arms for all lawful purposes. We will continue, as we have in the past, to vehemently oppose any efforts to limit gun ownership by law-abiding citizens as an unconstitutional infringement on our Second Amendment freedoms. These efforts include opposition to any attempts to ban firearms, including firearms incorrectly referred to as "assault weapons", and any attempts to place arbitrary limits on magazine capacity.

STATEMENT OF JOAQUIN JACKSON
Some misunderstandings have arisen about a news interview I participated in 5 few years ago. After watching a tape of that interview, I understand the sincere concerns of many people, including dear friends of mine. And I am pleased and eager to clear up any confusion about my long held belief in the sanctity of the Second Amendment.
In the interview, when asked about my views of assault weapons, I was talking about true assault weapons fully automatic firearms. I was not speaking, in any way, about semiautomatic rifles. While the media may not understand this critical distinction, I take it very seriously. But, as a result, I understand how some people may mistakenly take my comments to mean that I support a ban on civilian ownership of semiautomatic firearms. Nothing could be further from the truth. And, unfortunately, the interview was cut short before I could fully explain my thoughts and beliefs.
In fact, I am a proud owner of such rifles, as are millions of law-abiding Americans. And many Americans also enjoy owning fully automatic firearms, after being cleared by a background check and meeting the rigorous regulations to own such firearms. And these millions of lawful gun owners have every right and a Second Amendment right to own them.
As a hunter, I take great pride in my marksmanship. Every hunter should practice to be skilled to take prey with a single shot, if possible. That represents ethical, humane, skilled hunting. In the interview several years ago, I spoke about this aspect of hunting and my belief that no hunter should take the field and rely upon high capacity magazines to take their prey.
But that comment should never be mistaken as support for the outright banning of any ammunition magazines. In fact, such bans have been pursued over the years by state legislatures and the United States Congress and these magazine bans have always proven to be abject failures.
Let me be very clear. As a retired Texas Ranger, during 36 years of law enforcement service, I was sworn to uphold the United States Constitution. As a longtime hunter and shooter, an NRA Board Member, and as an American I believe the Second Amendment is a sacred right of all law-abiding Americans and, as I stated in the interview in question, I believe it is the Second Amendment that ensures all of our other rights handed down by our Founding Fathers.
I have actively opposed gun bans and ammunition and magazine bans in the past, and I will continue to actively oppose such anti-gun schemes in the future.
I appreciate my friends who have brought this misunderstanding to light, for it has provided me an opportunity to alleviate any doubts about my strong support for the NRA and our Second Amendment freedom.
NRA board members are elected, not appointed. What did you do specifically to see to it that Norquist wasn’t elected? What did you do to have him recalled?
You had to go back to the last relatively decent democrat to make a point?? I didn’t say democrats HAVE ALWAYS BEEN anti-gun. I said democrats ARE always anti-gun.
The Humphrey-style democrats are gone. Look at Joe Manchin. He was trailing in the polls, fired a gun in a commercial and won his election. Now he’s mouthing gun-control crap.
Name one democrat in the senate today (who is not up for re-election in 2014) who will vote against gun-control legislation.
No, just one of the most well known.
I said democrats ARE always anti-gun.
You are wrong. Bacus, Tester, Begich, Udall, Bennett, Bayh, Landrieu, Burr, Hagen to name a few.

Nice try sonny! I know he was elected and not appointed. Why should any member HAVE to do anything regarding a recall? He should have never been considered at all! Explain this: Just why was the muslim lover Norquist ever even allowed near the NRA, let alone be allowed to serve on the board, in the FIRST place?! Are they that stupid? No, they are not stupid....they do not CARE, just as an NRA rep. explained to me directly. Do you support the NRA knowing the muslim terrorist front group, C.A.I.R., had one of their main players as an NRA board member??! You might be to young to remember when the NRA were one of America’s finest organizations, of any kind. Well, I’m not and the NRA is obviously no longer the group it was in long years gone past....not when they would allow a full blown anti-American subversive like Norquist to even get in the front door of their headquarters let alone sit on the board.
The NRA is full of cowardly weasels. It needs to be destroyed and replaced with a real pro 2nd Amendment organization.
How’s that Dingy Harry endorsement working out for you now?
K Street scumbags all of them....
The NRA is and always has been a sinlge-issue organization. As an institution, they don't care about taxes, Obamacare or abortion. Their only concern is defending the right to keep and bear arms and they'll support the candidate with the best record of doing so regardless of their political party or where they stand on other issues.
Burr is a republican, but perhaps you meant someone else. When push comes to shove, unless they’re up for re-election, they will vote with the left for gun control or an assault weapons ban. Or they’ll be sneaky and vote to allow cloture, then vote against the bill when they know it has the votes for passage. But there aren’t as many moderate republicans who can give the democrats cover anymore.
Better than your endorsements of Todd Akin and Richard Mourdock and Sharron angle for that matter. If y’all would start picking some winners yourselves, we might not be in this situation at all.
Logic like that is the reason I quit the NRA a decade ago. You people are worse than useless. You are complicit.
Your Board is infested with cowards. If the lot of them dropped their trousers at once you couldn’t put a single functioning set of testicles together.
No help for Heller.
No help for McDonald.
But loads of fundraising letters. Yep, lots of those.
Ball-less, gut-less, spine-less K street scumbags...
Thanks for giving him cover, NRA, you jerks.
I hear ya Lurk! (see my post #87 and #92 This thread). They are WORSE than cowards. I can’t believe how far they have fallen and I can’t believe I used to be ready to go Duke City with anyone who bashed the NRA! How things change. I remember when the NRA fund raising ‘beg-o-grams’ really got rolling, at least one a month. I called and suggested they save their postage money. (I was already contributing some time and money above and beyond the yearly re-up fee then, I was a long time member but never was a life member). They said fine, you are “off the list”. Didn’t happen. 5 or 6 more phone calls to the phone reps. with the same response. I finally just gave up. That had nothing to do with my leaving tho, nothing at all. (Yeah, it was poor customer management or what have you but nothing really terrible). My reason was for the Norquist thing.
