I’ll raise my hand. My overprotective mom wouldn’t let me watch Batman because she said it was too violent. I could read BAM and KAZOW on the screen after all. I took every opportunity to remind her of this wehn she gave my boys a video of original Batman shows.

It was on every week, two nights in a row. Oh, how I LOVED that show! It’s cringe worthy now, but it was sure fun when I was 12!

Actually, I like the show a lot more now than I did when I was a kid - back then, I didn't appreciate just how intentionally cony and campy it really is. Every big name Hollywood star back then wanted to appear on the show. They couldn't accomodate them all as as villians, so they started doing the cameos with celebrities popping out of windows as Batman and Robin were climbing up the side of a building.

(The "Memorable Entertainment Television" network - known as "ME TV" - airs the program on Saturday nights.)

how about some real world specs on the orginal batmobile from the TV series? (not the old BW movies)

What did it really do? what was the fantasy supposed to do?

Wow - so you have never run around your house yelling “POW”, “BLAM” and “OOF”, jumping off of chairs etc until someone gets a bloody nose and Mom has to make it all better with Tang and Oreos?

Man, you haven’t lived!! ;)

Didn’t say I never did that stuff. I actually never grew up. Last week, my two teenage boys texted me at work to ask if they could demolish an old TV we were getting rid of. I told them to try escalating violence. Airsoft, BB, Pellet, Arrow. None of them worked so over the weekend, we took the TV downstairs. My wife kid of looked the other way as we tried subsonic .22’s then .22 longs to finally do the job. Apparently the noise didn’t carry far as we never got a visit from the boys in blue.

Ah, yes. The poetic abilities of drill instructors. In the summer of 1972, many a miserable hot day was wiled away marching cadence to The Candy Man Can.

It was Wednesday and Thursday. I remember for certain, because we are Southern Baptists, and have Prayer Meeting on Wednesday nights, along with Choir practice. My Mom would not entertain the notion that we should miss church for “Batman”.

Turned out OK, though, because Thursday was the ending, and it didn’t take much to figure out how it started, especially since Thursday episode, had a re-cap of Wednesday. Really neat time in my life. America was the greatest place on Earth, and it was fun to be a kid.

LOL! That show was huge back then. I saw an interview once with Burt Ward where he said they were like rock stars, girls would constantly hit on him and Adam West and they would get mobbed everywhere they went. Great memories, back then I must have been 5 or 6 when that show was on yet I remember certain episodes clear as day like one where Batman was getting cement poured on top of him and then the show ended on that cliffhanger and WOW I can’t wait till next show! AAH! What’s funny is kids never realized the show was campy, I took it completely serious! LOL!

Tell me about it. All the good handles are gone if you don’t get in on the ground floor. I was going to go for ‘Jim Robinson’ but someone beat me to that too. Meh.

Jim Thompson was available for years until he was exposed by that moron on MSNBC. I don’t recall the name.

Batman has come a long way. Back around 1943 he was driving with skinny Robin in a late model 30’s Buick? LOL, and Robin wore the old black mask of the early Porno movies.
