He is guilty, and his punishment should be a ten-dollar fine for cleanup costs.

It IS knowable. These criminals broke into his home before (how many times we are not told yet), and the house was broken in at least 8 times by other teens (which may or may not have been friends of the criminals that are now dead), so if they were willing to break the law multiple times to steal his weapons, you don’t think they’d want to exact revenge if they got off with a slap on the wrist a a bullet in their ankle? you’re pretty naive to think that as I KNOW they’d come back and wanting more than more of his guns, they’d want him dead. PERIOD.

We do not know if the intruders were unarmed. I read in one of the posts in this very thread that the girl even had a lead pipe, which is a weapon and poses a serious threat.

I do not know the answer to your question. I was talking about that with my wife a few days ago. I told her, I have not read a lot of newsreports about people being revisited and a measure of revenge taken. I am not saying it does not happen. I do not know the frequency it might occur. I would think the perps, had they lived, would not have wanted to mess with this guy again. He seems to mean buisness. But, that is a question which I cannot answer. It is true, now, that they will not come back to torment him.

For you to think these perps had they lived not wanting to exact revenge is precisely why I think you are naive. I know the way these people think and criminal behavior doesn’t say, “oh well he shot at us once and we lived, so let’s leave him alone.” Nope, they will be back guaranteed! They would be back to kill this man.

So she’s bleeding to death, gasping for breath and laughing. Mmm. And then he hides the corpses overnight...ooookaaay.
And you sympathize with him ? Wow that’s really ......

And as far as guessing there’s going to be no break ins at his house who knows? He’s locked up. Know one us there to protect the place. In fact with that bond of his that sick coward is going to be locked up forever. And wait till those prisoners find out he’s a kid killing cop. He’s going to wish he stuck the gun in his own mouth.

And the final irony that after the kids families get through with him in civil court they’ll end up being able to sell his house and all his possessions.
Well at least he’ll still have his pension so he can buy protection from one prisoner and be his girlfriend only. That and a few candy bars from the prison commissary.

I’m not ok with him not contacting the police after he defended himself from the intruders. I never said I felt sympathy other than he did the right thing in killing the intruders. For you black irish to have any kind of compassion for the intruders shows me you are OK with criminal behavior and then for the coup de grace you want their families be able to sue for damages when THEY were the f-ing criminals? Is THAT what you’re sympathizing with? I will say what you didn’t say... That is F’ing sick man.

The law still takes a dim view of the homeowner shhoting incapacitated attackers.

It doesn’t do you much good to defend yourself in such a manner that you become subject to prosecution and lose all your money to lawyers.

A mile from me and not quite 40 years ago a teenage son shot his father and mother to death one morning .
But since he was teenager,he was only put in juvenile detention for a few years. But the parents were just as dead as if killed by a stranger.

Awful as it sounds, sometimes a person might have to kill a family member to save their own life or that of a third innocent person. Approaching anyone while masked and holding a knife is not likely to lead to a good outcome. If a so-called prank by the Conn. youth it was a really stupid one.And considering it was a adopted or step-parent relationship there might have been deep anger issues against the man.
