What are your three favorite science fiction movies?
Thanks, now I’ve got to see it.
I posted a pic of “ Morons from outer space” while it’s a goofy movie that has some funny parts, it is the genius of the concept that I loved.
The idea that Extraterrestrials have a superior intelligence is something most have accepted as fact.
I suppose when a remote homesteader saw an automobile for the first time they must have considered those occupants of some superior intelligence. And it’s likely they were, since you had to be a mechanic at that time.
But now, any moron can get in his car and drive across the country.
You are clearly a terrorist!
Forgot about that one.
It's near the top of my list, too.
Forbidden Planet still rocks.
Plan 9 From Outer Space
Creation of the Humanoids
Robot Monster
I like it for two reasons.
The quest of the replicants for what is essentialy their humanity, and Rutger Hauer. His tears in rain impromptu line was one of the finest pieces of acting I’ve ever seen in my life.
It isn’t an action heavy movie, I suppose it isn’t for everyone, but not all science fiction is.
This one is my favorite.
Star Trek fans, here is the best parody:http://archive.org/details/StarWreckInThePirkining
“The future looks bleak for Captain Pirk. Originally from the far future, he traveled back to save the world, but was shipwrecked on the 21st century. The world of the past is a dangerous place and he is finding it difficult to convince the ladies he is, in fact, an intergalactic space hero from the future. To make things right Pirk comes up with a questionable plan to save mankind’s future...”
Funny and amazingly good effects too.
“Wrath of Khan was my first date with Mrs. Henkster! LOL! She still married me!!!
Great movie for sure! What a great cast and special effects. I loved “Blade Runner,” too. Sean Connery did a quirky scifi movie, too. Named “Zardoz?” My favorite was probably “2001, Space Odessy.” I went to the premier in San Francisco way back when. Geez! I’m getting old!
“They Came From Outter Space” -
Oh laws yes!
Wow, I think all of my favorites have been hit, and I have a lot of favorites.
Was Gattaca mentioned?
Inception was interesting.
District 9 was cool in many ways.
Donnie Darko
How about Iron Man or The Avengers? :D
Hunger Games? I guess I wasn’t totally impressed with that one, but it’s sci-fi. Some classic elements in it.
I’m not a big fan of Avatar, but you’ve got to admit it has some serious sci-fi magnitude to it.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was a interesting sci-fi twist.
Watchmen, an alternate universe of Earth. I found it interesting, though seriously flawed.
A Clockwork Orange.
Robocop.
That’s all I can think of at the moment.
The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)
The War of the Worlds (1953)
I agree with Nachum’s listing of Galaxy Quest. For similarly light science fiction, the 1980 Flash Gordon movie is one of my favorites along with 1975’s Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze.
Blade Runner
2001 A Space Odyssey
Then in any order
Equalibriumn
Dune (the mini series)
Children of Dune (the mini series)
Star Trek, Wrath of Khan
Alien
All other Philip K. Dick based movies
THX1138
Brazil
12 Monkeys
Forbidden Planet
Starship troopers (camp but okay with me)
BTW, I just coined “zerocare”
Hope I’m the first
use it freely
