Nope. Even in cold weather nylons are not worn. They’re out of style. Older women wear them..... Tights are another story.
Your use of the word nylons is different. Are you American? In style, out of style, it’s cyclical. Casual office wear has been the culprit more than anything. A down economy tends to cause people to want to up their game as far as appearance, don’t want to look like the office slacker when pink slips are flying.
I’d imagine over-the-knee socks for women are out of style in your estimation, too. They’re not.
“Over-the-knee socks”?
Fascinating - like the old stockings they wore with garters and garter-belts.
What’s the utility? Are they warn with mini-skirts in the winter?
They’re worn nearly year round with short skirts or short shorts in the cool, grey climates from northern California on up the coast. Frequently worn with boots, long ones.
That’s where it started. But, it’s not just out there anymore, I saw a fair amount of it at a Lyle Lovett accoustic performance this past Friday night in Greensboro.
all purchases totaling over $500 come with a “Wide Load” sign.
Name-dropper ;-).
Bill is at a concert in Raleigh tonight, “’Rock Yourself to Sleep’ with ‘Dance, Gavin, Dance’.”
It was a happy accident, invited to go last minute, free ticket. I didn’t know that much about Lyle Lovett. I think I was confusing him with Dwight Yoakam as fa as musical genre, but he’s not easy to categorize. Americana is about as close as I could get. Runs the gamut from folk to bluegrass to traditional country to rock. Very personable, dry, witty and humorous man who engaged the audience comstantly. He clearly loves what he does. I enjoyed it. Great seats, too.
Sigh.
Did he have his Large Band with him? We’re from Texas, a few moves back, where Lyle Lovett is a musical giant. I think he has an incredible voice.
No Large Band. Accoustic. They played for three hours, several tunes from his new album, “Goodbye North Carolina” was nice. I’m a fan now. It was in War Memorial Auditorium, we had “pit” seats, front row center. I could count the stitches on his black cowboy boots, lol.
Wow. I’m happy for you - nothing like discovering a great musician you didn’t know about.
Well that’s nice, but to prance around naked while there’s a perfectly good house to change in is disgraceful to the people and it shows a real lack of class.
