Not knife, it was probably a spear in the back.Yup. I would suppose that would better explain the force capable of shattering the ribs around the wound... And the distance provides for why there are no defensive wounds, albeit that it does not eliminate the 'surprise' factor. What is left to wonder about is whether the spear was thrust or thrown.
