...This probably won’t mean any big surprises in the Benghazi story line, but it will give Congress an opening to demand answers on how the White House decided to push the spontaneous-movie-review meme for so long in the face of the overwhelming data that the attack was both deliberate and well-planned, with paramilitary forces, materiel, and tactics.
The house needs to focus somewhere else too, the movie thing isn’t the least of the screwups. Namely, why wasn’t the mission in Benghazi provided with proper security? Why foreign contractors and not US contractors? For that matter, why wasn’t the embassy in Tripoli properly staffed, as the embassy is in AQ’s crosshairs too? Was AFRICOM really a “ghost command” unable to lend aid or was it endowed with an in extremis force? Why was the request for an aircraft denied? Who ordered the stand down, and what happened to the admiral? Why were our people stranded at the airport? What is the scope of the problem we have with released gitmo inmates that have rejoined the fight against us, and why hasn’t that turnover program been stopped? Is there no inquiry into apparent role of the WH in aiding al Qaeda organizations? What is the status...
