Sadly, some among you seem to have all but given up. Reading through your reactions in the comments at PJ Media, Breitbart, Hotair and others, I see cries that "the Republic is dead", and even claims—shocking claims, for this Americanophile—to burn the flag because "it doesn’t mean anything anymore".

I've visited this blog for a couple of years. The writer is a French Americophile, and his blog reminds me of "thepeoplescube." He has some interesting perspectives regarding a 3rd party and the hand wringing of Republicans and Conservatives.

The problem with war is you become the enemy. To defeat corruption we would have to become corrupt. In fact this is exactly the GOPe’s plan. Beat libs with more and better stuff. Problem is Santa’s bag is about empty now. Sure we could get all “grass roots” and try to “retake the culture” a la Beck. Does anyone think the Rats will let that happen? It would be like an infantry captain letting the enemy have the high ground mortar positions on his company. Like Israel giving Golan back to Syria. No way. Not without lying and cheating are you going to engage a liar and cheater. After you win then what? How do you stop lying and cheating after you have won? Hence “He stalks the world looking for whom he can devour.”. We have had the once in ten millennia opportunity to taste the Liberty God intended for us through the Blessing of His Providence. Our descendants will have to deal with the realities we see as hazy images in a dark mirror. All we can do is teach them to keep faith. Thanks for posting. Inspired by closing paragraph that America has always been outnumbered. I still think more of us than not believe in liberty and freedom. We are well on the road to serfdom, no different than slavery, a kept society. But how do we stop this. First things first. Our vote needs to be counted. And we need to Open the minds of more Americans who vote thoughtlessly

Yes, I know but it was humorous which is something I badly need right now. It feels like all the humor and fun has gone out of life. I spent an evening on this thread and actually learned a lot and enjoyed myself in the process.
