Well that was certainly a different time. Many of us kids I think learned something resembling a moral code or at least appropriate codes of conduct from watching Saturday afternoon heroes on the "local stations"
We have all the John Wayne movies on DVD now ;-).
The local station on Saturdays had “Big Valley,” “Rawhide,” “Cheyenne,” “Lancer,” and other mostly-forgotten tv series. “Alias Smith and Jones” was one of my favorites; Zot, they were dumb!
