I am ‘going Galt’ until this passes...
I think I understand what the OP is trying to say... He is just entering survival mode - economically and otherwise. Foregoing some comforts and ridding oneself of distractions is just a start. A part of being demoralized an turning Galt (at least partially) is that as Conservatives we have been and certainly are now fighting TWO ENEMIES... obama and the Leftists... plus the core of the Republican Party - the Elitist RINO Establishment that hates us almost as much as obama does. We are to just sit down and shut up as per the Jeb Bushes, and Roves of the Repug Clan... We may sit down and shut up - but automatically voting next time is in question.. Unless a break off of Conservatives results in a Third Part that replaces the Republican Party ... I don’t plan on voting for more McCains, Romney’s, Jeb Bushes, et al... So yes - I will take my marbles and go home... We have a Political Party that doesn’t want 40 per of their support ... so I will help them out ...
I assume the mods are letting people get it all out of their systems; they’re being very tolerant of the vanities. Looks like those systems aren’t quite flushed yet....
You forgot to add mockery of Michelle’s wardrobe. Oh, no, my mistake; you DID include Animal Kingdom Weirdness.
Don’t forget to shut down all you freewill donations to various governments: nothing to the IRS, no sales tax, thell the city and county to pound sand.
None of the rest amounts to a hill of beans, they’ll be chugging along spending your money regardless.
Thankfully, it’s still (somewhat) a free country, and you can do all that stuff if you wish. Just don’t try to tell us it’s fighting back at anything.

I don’t feel bad about exercising a little sarcasm ... when a person puts up a vanity post, he wants attention. Sometimes one gets praise, and sometimes one gets snarks; it’s just the risk you take.
You need a break, so do I. Nothing wrong with unplugging every once in a while.

I retired effective Wednesday morning. I am finishing a very small number of tasks, handing the rest over to others (former employees who I set up as competitors a few years ago), and taking no new jobs. I am also cutting my purchases to a minimum, and putting more time into hunting, gardening, doing my own repairs, and otherwise moving outside the sphere of federal taxation as much as possible. My 2010 and 2011 taxes were less than 10% of my 2006 (pre-Pelosi) taxes, 2012 will be significantly lower, and they will drop to near zero for 2013.

Due to various kinds of leverage in the economic system, a 5% drop in demand would probably get multiplied into a 20% drop in GDP and a total wipeout of the financial system along with a wipeout of the political system too.
The other way to do it is to have a mass withdrawal of cash from the banking system and/or the brokerage firms.
The sad part of the USA today is that due to leverage, a minor blip could crash the system, whereas in the old days, even a US Civil War could not.
There really is too big to fail and the fed implements QE to infinity because even a 1% drop in GDP could crash the system.
This isn’t going to pass. This is what the future is.
My wife and I are doing the same. I gave up my morning trip to Starbucks-an admittedly small gesture, but in principle starving the beast at every opportunity. I also can’t afford to quit my job like some of the critics here are suggesting. We are also not quitting Christmas, but we will give only gift cards to be redeemed after Christmas day to exploit the sale clearances and deprive big retailers of their “stupid christian” profits. We have stopped going out to dinner and only shop for necessities. Going Galt-light is something to feel like we can make a difference. Screw the FR critics - best of luck until the nation goes over a cliff or comes to it’s collective senses.
Maybe after the flurry is over, we can hold a “bonfire of the vanities” and delete them all in one glorious ceremony.

Perhaps YOU need to re-read it. "Going Galt" means to sabotage then walk away from your business. You instantly become a wanted man, so you'd better have a hidden "Gulch" to retreat to.
Been going galt for awhile just didnt know it had a name.
