“I don’t disagree...BUT, why do you believe a true conservative could ever win under present day conditions with all the government entitlements and handouts? Who do you believe could have beaten Obama?”
At the end of the day, does that really matter? At least with a REAL conservative it would be a rejection of what conservatisim stands for not some wishy washy hybrid.
IF my views/values as a conservative (ALL of them - Social/Moral, National Defense, & Fiscal) are going to be rejected. Then let it be because they were clearly explained by the candidate that represents me and those ideas. Then at least I lose with dignity because my ideas were rejected.
Romney’s loss was a double loss because not only did he lose, but he damaged conservatism in the process because he wasn’t truly conservative and he let the press and others define him and what little conservatism he represented.
I wished it was possible to identify and remove from FR all those that agressively pushed the ABO line. It was a mistake then, and really obvious now. Jim Robinson attempted to do this at first, but too many had drank that “coolaid” and it would have cripple the forum. Too many long time Freepers where of the “winning at all costs mentallity” and it has degenerated this forum.
So then please tell me who the perfect conservative candidate was that you believe could have beaten Obama.
