I posted this on another thread, but it seemed worthy of it's own thread, at least in my selfish mind...
The Øbama 50% is counting on Ø, he is counting on the Romney 50% voters to produce and spend - Don't.
We are told we have "class warfare" - it's beyond time to drop Professor Øbama's class... curriculum, syllabus, reading materials, fees, lectures, lab, extra credit, tests...his final exam.
I know we used to have more than several until they were stolen by that thief, now all we have are bows and muzzleloaders, so sad.
Willing to sell a FReeper an acre? I can weld, fabricate, and fix anything, including cars and electronics. Will barter for diesel.
How serious am I? Try me.
Bump for later reference. Also interested in ping list.
Who charges $80 for a library card? Or, in what area, if you don’t want to be specific?
I’m not doubting you—it’s just always been free where I’ve lived.
Looters need victims. I refuse to participate.
“re-define Republicans as a logical alternative to the globalist nonsense.”
You assume the voters supporting the regime have reasoning abilities. They have proven that they do not. Free stuff wins elections.
Guerrilla warfare: Against all ObamaCare supporters and enablers. Send for all the free AARP information you can. Even in the name of deceased relatives or fake people. Now is an especially good time with the Medicare supplement deadline looming on December 7. Fill your fireplace with this crap or give it to your local volunteer fire department, Boy Scouts or whomever sells to a paper recycling company.
They will appreciate it and you will appreciate costing the AARP $$!
Agree with you on charity. I have no problem giving to those I know in need, but I will not be giving more to the takers who voted to take more from me.
one could look it up, but if memory serves the fine can be as high as $2,500 per gallon, for dyed (off-road) fuel found in vehicles registered for road use.
This is a list of “How to be Thrifty”.
Sorry, “Going Galt” is buying land in rural Colorado, selling everything, moving and recreating another society/economy.
Any asset that has real value and can e readily sold if needed. I like commodities of all types. Diversify.
Regarding converting vehicles to CNG: Ranchers in west Texas have had dual-fuel vehicles for 50-60 years. Conversion kits can be installed by a mechanic in a day. Switch from one fuel to another, and back again, with the flip of a switch.
I like it. Amazing some of this stuff I already do and I didn’t even realize it.
Good point, Kropotkin. I just checked current prices for CNG in my region. Anywhere from $1.50 to $1.80 per gallon (I guess it’s a gallon, or the equivalent).
My choice is between keeping a 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid that gets about 40 mpg, but has 80,000 miles, and converting a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 with only 30,000 mile to a CNG vehicle. The Dodge Ram gets about 15 mpg. Still, it can do many things that the Civic can’t do, and it will probably last a lot longer.
I also think I can get a good price for the Civic Hybrid right now. It will be more valuable on the resale market than the truck.
We live in a Rural Area and pay the Taxes for this Library:
http://www.waterloo.lib.ia.us/services/card/librarycard#costCard
We however live 16 miles from this area and cannot utilize the Library without purchasing a “Non-Resident” Card. I suspect there are many Rural Individuals who fall among the non-districted areas.
Of course we also pay Property Taxes of which $900 per year goes to the School District bond to build a new mega-high-school. Also another 9.45% goes to “Education” - none of which we utilize because we Homeschool.
Thankfully we live within 20 miles another Library - which is in another County and we cannot use that either.
Go look at a site called paperbackswap.com. It’s not free (far from it), but it is a way of getting some reading material you want to read at a reduced cost.

It is about being thrifty to some extent. Pure “Going Galt” is as you describe it, but the concept is the same: disconnect from the economy and the system that is trying to suck you dry.
I also like the suggestion Mad Dawgg put up about maxing your deductions. That has nothing to do with being thrifty and everything to do with denying the gubbermint (what is essentially) a loan.
You mean, it's the most self-loving policy that you can adopt. "Charitable" giving is for when others cannot do for themselves, and is based on the Christian application of the meaning of the Greek concept called "agape" -- which is to sovereignly prefer one above self and others. Perhaps you need to review the concept of what "charity" and "love" implies, for I fear your conclusion misses the concept.
It might help to look at Matthew Henry's discussion of the word: "To love our neighbour as ourselves, is the second great commandment. There is a self-love which is corrupt, and the root of the greatest sins, and it must be put off and mortified; but there is a self-love which is the rule of the greatest duty: we must have a due concern for the welfare of our own souls and bodies. And we must love our neighbour as truly and sincerely as we love ourselves; in many cases we must deny ourselves for the good of others."
It is not, of course. wise to respond to those agencies which would misuse the tangible form of compassion which they ask you to place in their trust, but totally withdrawing material help for others in time of need is the corrupt form of self-love which Henry describes.
How would you like The God and kind-hearted men to act toward you? By withdrawing undeserved compassion toward you in your time of need?
Just observing and asking --
Support businesses that are like-minded.
The media, which is the ENEMEDIA, is our enemy.
A great alternative,
http://www.theblaze.com/tv/
I strongly recommend checking it out.
It’s about $5.00 per month and worth every penny and you are supporting someone who reports the truth.
Also available on Dish channel 212.
This was said earlier, but I’ll repeat it...get your children OUT of public schools.
(So thankful my 3 kids voted AGAINST Obama)
Be very careful what college your children go to. Don’t think it can’t happen to ‘your’ kids.
One last thing...
