If this were to happen in the US, the ACLU and CAIR would make sure that the mosque occupiers would receive life in prison plus a hundred years just to set an example.
It is easier for Europe to get rid of islam than it is for the US to do the same and muslims know that.
Remember that we have the 1st Amendment that guarantees protection for both the good and the satanic and that oftentimes it seems to favor the latter.
Europe does not have that restriction.
Yeah, there is nothing we can do (or should do) about law-abiding Muslim citizens and legal immigrants. The Constitution does protect them, even though they would likely destroy the very same Constitution given the chance.

The real problem of course is our insane immigration policy. To the extent that the Muslim population is growing in the United States due to conversion, well there’s nothing that can be done about that. People do crazy things all the time. But to the extent that Muslim growth is due to immigration, well we can certainly do something about that.
Incredibly, Muslim immigration is up since 9-11. Diversity worship, Republican cowardice, and Republican stupidity are all responsible for this. And the numbers will only grow in the future since most legal immigration is based on extended family reunification, which leads to unending chain migration. Add in those who get in on the absurd Diversity Visa Lottery, and who come as refugees, and then consider how all of them will be able to start importing family through the chain migration, and it will only get worse.
But it will only get worse if we don’t change policy. We could and should abolish the Diversity Visas. We could and should severely restrict refugee settlements. We could and should end chain migration. These three things alone would effectively cut off Muslim immigration, without even having that as a goal. But if need be, we could also just end immigration from Muslim countries.
There is a lot we could and should do. I have no hope that we will, but we could.
