Not sure how to characterize this, or where it belongs, but there's considerable scuttlebutt this morning over a new (and maybe scurrilous) website predicting a major October Surprise this weekend, Sunday evening, just before the next debate on Monday.
This deserves FReeper attention and discussion.
http://legalinsurrection.com/2012/10/okay-sure-ill-fall-for-it-and-link-to-an-october-surprise-website/
and
http://www.buzzfeed.com/wiowsa/one-of-your-presidential-candidates-isnt-being-ho-4afz
for starters. An Insider on a website that cannot be mentioned also hinted at something big coming this weekend.
FWIW
Gloria Allred must have some woman paid to claim that Mitt made unwanted advances - a woman who will disappear as soon as the election is over just like those who accused Herman Cain. This is one of the sickest acts around.
A whois search of the domain name brings up Dynadot.
After searching for Dynadot this is what I found..
In February 2008, the wikileaks.org domain name was taken offline after the Swiss Bank Julius Baer sued WikiLeaks and Dynadot, the wikileaks.org domain registrar, in a court in California, United States,
and obtained a permanent injunction ordering the shutdown.[3][4] WikiLeaks had hosted allegations of illegal activities at the bank’s Cayman Islands branch.[3] WikiLeaks’ U.S. Registrar, Dynadot, complied with the order by removing its DNS entries.
However, the website remained accessible via its numeric IP address, and online activists immediately mirrored WikiLeaks at dozens of alternative websites worldwide.[5]
Looks like Dynadot was at least at some point associated with Wikileaks...
I think FP is Fark Politics.
I just watched part of that video - it’s pro-drug legalization. Fast and furious was mentioned in a negative way by Romney’s cousin - i.e. “what were they thinking”. The gist is that if we get rid of prohibition we’ll get rid of the violence and the “war on drugs” hasn’t stopped the flow of drugs anyway.
So wonder if what they’ve got has to do with Fast and Furious?
As far as I am concerned, if Obama & Co. tried to drop a pre-election dirty bomb, all bets are off. If anyone is sitting on any previously withheld information, it should be released. Further, they should go on record now informing the Obots of their intentions.
I usually say fighting back does not mean fight dirty, but the stakes are too high. If not now, when? If not now, it will be too late.
I don’t know? Good question. I just watched the part 7, I guess that’s the part you watched. The host, said something to the effect of, ‘Romney’s ancestral background does not a good candidate make’, plus the obligatory “magic underwear” comments. I saw a commercial on their channel for the “independent Presidential Candidate Debate-Online”. Participants are the Libertarian candidate and the Green Party.
Not that it matters in my vote for President, but I did find the history of the LeBaron family interesting and the Romney family still living there interesting. I didn’t know there had been kidnappings by the cartels of residents of the “Mormon Colonies” (as the host calls them).
The October surprise people mentioned that their little surprise was referred to in the VP and the 2nd POTUS debate. I know Fast and Furious was mentioned in the most recent debate but not sure if it was in the VP. Hmmm
If this is their agenda seems to me it could possibly be anti-Obama.
It’s hard to remember anything in the VP debate other than Biden’s grin and constant interrupting.
The countdown clock has moved the ETA again. It’s now Monday at around 6 PM whereas last night it was around 6 AM. This keeps up and ETA will be after the election.
I am just confused by all this. I can’t see how anything against Obama at this point would matter to his supporters. This is more likely to be “dirt” on Romney which I am sure the dims would play to the hilt even if faked. I will keep following this thread and appreciate all the effort of those of you that are trying to source this and track things down. Good job!
Maybe I misunderstood the twitter quote - it seems to be saying that this “surprise” has to do with college applications for financial aid. In that case, for Obama, the tax form would be from the late 1970s or early 1980s (Occidental or Columbia) or the early 1990s (Harvard).
The 1982 1040EZ is the oldest 1040EZ that the IRS has posted on their website.
But come to think of it, a college application for aid would probably include a tax form from the parents/grandparents of the applicant.
Uh oh. Who is the father?
Immigration was mentioned in both debates. “We are a nation of immigrants.”
But POTUS is not supposed to be one.
lol
Yes, I agree with you. But look at the last line here - the guy is so wrong! LOL

spelletrader: Ok for anyone new to the thread I’ll re-consolidate all the info that was used to trackback and expose these guys.
First everyone did a whois on octsurprise.com, naturally. Of course that is privately registered so we had to find connecting sites to try to dig into.
Fark user MrEricSir ran a reverse search on the IP itself to find the link to pausetime.com (that site brings up AV alerts, surf at your own risk), which in turn led to Anthony Maro and this address.
I took a different route when I googled and came across the wiowsa connection and did a whois for whatisoccupywallstreetabout.
No name available but it did have an email address which is also associated with a site named scatterfamily.com, a quick whois of that site led to Jeffery Hopwood and is registered to this address two blocks from the other.
It’s fairly simple after that to google the names and find the http://www.linkedin.com/in/anthonymaroLinkedin info on Anthony as well as on Jeffery to see that they not only live near each other, but also work together at Discovery.
Then Fark user elchip googled the two names together and found a reference to “The Greatest Rickroll Ever” having been done by these two guys. Of course they soon deleted that post when they saw we were on to them , but of course they couldn’t edit the google cache.
“The Greatest Rickroll Ever” that they refer to is a site they launched in 2007 called “radioheadlp7” which had a countdown timer and promised the latest Radiohead album info when the timer ran out. The band denied all knowledge, but still over 20,000 people signed up and got Rickrolled when the timer finally ran out.
This is the same thing, just a lot sloppier.
I sent Tweets with all of this info to their Twitter account and they promptly blocked me and removed the Tweets from their feed.
Feel free to use any of this info to educate and alert people.
Kudos, guys! The best part is that the Freepers won’t figure it out until it happens.
I checked - F&F wasn’t mentioned in the VP debate - at least that’s what I found.
Ha!

Meet Two of the Developers Behind the Internet October Surprise
EXCERPT
Jeff Hopwood is a developer based in the Midwest. We connected him to the October Surprise through the BuzzFeed account used to post the blurred documents tweeted by the Surprise site. That account, WIOWSA, was previously used to post a link to another website, Partislator, that tracks other political tweets. That post has since been deleted. A Daily Kos contributor named partislator also promoted a site called WhatIsOccupyWallStreetAbout.com, which has since been deactivated but was registered with Mr. Hopwoods email address and phone number. When we called Mr. Hopwood today, he confirmed he was involved with the October Surprise site, Partislator and WhatIsOccupyWallStreetAbout.com, but he denied knowing anything about the coming document drop.
Im slightly involved, Mr. Hopwood said. I work more on the tech end of things.
Mr. Hopwood said that, in spite of his past work on Occupy-related sites, the October Surprise site is not connected with Occupy Wall Street.
Its nothing involved in Occupy. We ended up using a BuzzFeed account because of last minute type things, and that account had some other things on it, said Mr. Hopwood adding that the other activity has since been removed.
According to Mr. Hopwood, the October Surprise site was the work of a group of developers that Im friends with, one of whom had been contacted to create the site by a third party. Mr. Hopwood claimed not to know anything about the people who asked him and his friends to make the site. His only stipulation for them was that the documents that will be revealed cannot be hosted on his server along with the site, because he claims not to know their contents.
I dont know the identity. I dont know anything, political affiliation or anything like that, he said. Myself, like I said, Im kind of limited involvement, and Im trying to figure out what is going on myself, because its on my servers.
There has been some speculation that the site may be part of a viral marketing campaign. Mr. Hopwood said he thinks this may be true because he and his friends were asked to put together the site fairly quickly, and he believes a political group would have been more professional.
I tend to think it might be some type of marketing thing because of the way they contacted us, said Mr. Hopwood, adding that he and the other developers put the site together in like a half an hour.
Romney takes 57 states.
SURPRISE!
