***Native American Indians from western United States found to have genetic mutation typical of Ashkenazi Jews***
I have read that the Jews of Spain were Separdic. So where did this Ashkenazi come from? The woodpile?
Uhhh...now that you mention it, you are right; it hadn’t occurred to me before. The only thing I can think of is that there was movement of Jews throughout Europe at the time, and some Ashkenazi Jews might have found their way there. Most, however, did go east to Germany, Poland, etc.
Man, I’m having to dig thru my brain but I read a book 30 years ago about the differentiation between Sephardic (which I recall as indigenous, darker skinned genetic original Jews, and the Ashkenazi who were largely converts(?) who went up into Europe.
Someone please beat me with a stick ; I’m no historian or scholar.
