Before reboot entered the pop culture lexicon, there was GoldenEye.
The movie is one of the absolute best of the entire James Bond series, due in no small part to a terrific character-heavy script from Michael France, Jeffrey Caine, and Bruce Feirstein.

1. Bad script 2. Bad overacting 3. Bad Soundtrack 4. Ripoff of DAF 5. Turned Bond series into a comic book.
Hat tipp to GSP.FAN, thanks
Goldeneye lost me after the tank chase which I liked very much. The main turnoff was this super elaborate techno facility in Cuba.
Sorry to disagree, but Golden Eye is right up there with Thunderball as my Bond favs.
Best Nintendo 64 game ever.
I liked it at the time and it was probably the best Brosnan film but I agree it’s not one I watch repeatedly. I am a big Bond fan. My favorites are:
From Russia With Love
Goldfinger
On Her Majesty’s Secret Service
The Spy Who Loved Me
For Your Eyes Only
The Living Daylights
Casino Royale (the new one)
Like I said, I am a Bond afficianado (Just saw OHMSS on the big screen at MoMA last night) and can find something to enjoy in all the films but I must say Die Another Day is without a doubt my least favored. I also think You Only Live Twice and Diamonds Are Forever and Live and Let Die were missed opportunities.
Comic book? Yes. Sometimes I like to read a comic book.
Stupid tank scene? Yup. But I loved it!
The Craig Bonds turn me off. Too graphic for one. Depressing...not so much escapism/fun.
Skyfall theme called a Bond theme for the ages. It’s OK but not outstanding for me. I’d rather hear You Only Live Twice.
I really enjoyed Diamonds Are Forever because of Jill St John. Jimmy Dean was a hoot too.
Elektra was hot...one of the best Bond girls. I also liked Jane Seymour as Solitaire.
It is merely my opinion but Pierce Brosnan is the worst Bond ever. A terrible actor whose range of emotion comes in three variations 1. plastic 2. dour 3. Botox Overdose
Jill St. John gets a lot of grief but she was pretty good in the “incompetent” Bond girl vein. I also liked Mr. Wint & Mr Kidd, the politically incorrect gay hit men. Love the scene where Bond sees through their ruse thanks to his superior knowledge of oenophilia. “Mouton Rothschild IS a claret. And I’ve smelt that aftershave before.” Lol.
All your patient waiting to show off your private Bond Babe collection has paid off. Is that you with Miss Pussy Galore at the crap table?
Not really a fan of Brosnan found him annoying but i agree with what the guy wrote.
First time i saw Goldeneye i enjoyed it but as he made more movies found them annoying and soured on Goldeneye.
How do you reach the conclusion that it is a ripoff of DAF only thing they have in common is the satellite that fires lasers and that happens again in Die another Day.
Wow father time shows no mercy. Have to say Jane Seymour in her younger days was drop dead gorgeous.
hated the moore girlieman Bond.
You Only Live Twice was my favorite book and least favorites of the Connery films.
That Rothschild scene was classic. Stupid..maybe, but a lot of fun.
BTW any man who sees JSJ in the bed or bikini and doesn’t enjoy it is DEAD!
Best part is she never really shows anything. Teasing yes but still a lady.
Jane Seymour...young..YES!
Seymour looks purty damn good for a 61 year old!
