Problem with that is bassets rarely turn up there. Lets be honest, they can be out run by a snail. They can sometimes get away following a smell but they are not built to cover lots of ground.

I missed one not long back at the shelter. He was on the sales floor for 15 minutes they tell me.

There is a rescue group that seems to get all of the bassets in my area. They have 50 of them. No problem right? 10 page application with 3 home visits and 1 unannounced visit. They want to talk to EVERYONE I know, and people I don’t. I have to fence my yard (I live in the country)not allow the dog outside with out being supervised and allow them to visit anytime they want to make sure the dog is doing well and my home is up to their standards.

Now I know why the shelter can place one in 15 minutes and this group has 50 of them they can’t find a home for...

Well, if your heart is set on a Basset Hound then I guess the field is diminished. I was just thinking any good bird dog being rescued may work as well. Happy Hunting!
