Utah boy's letter: 'Grown-ups killed my kitty'

An 8-year-old Utah boy wrote a letter to his local newspaper after an animal shelter worker failed to write a note to save his cat from being euthanized. "Yesterday grown-ups killed my kitty, my best friend, when they weren't supposed to," he said.

The letter appeared in The Herald Journal, of Logan, on Thursday.

ah, but male cats tend to roam.

If you love your cat, neuter him or her as soon as possible, and keep them in doors. It sounds cruel, but it will keep them alive.

“WHat the hell kind of “animal shelter” is that???”

One that takes cats that are trapped so that they can be killed. The neighbours weren’t trying to save the life of the cat, so they took the cat to the nearest killing centre.

The neighbours should compensate the family for their loss.

I went to a debate between an atheist and a Christian.

The atheist said there was inherent good in all human beings, but they were outraged by evil anyway.

The Christian said if he stopped on a puppy on stage, the atheist would be outraged, but if it was a cat, the point would be debatable.

I have both dogs and cats, so I found the analogy amusing.

Interesting. The shelter personnel made a mistake, but the neighbor was the proximal cause of the cat’s death and the boy’s heartbreak. I remember all too well the grief I felt at age five when my beloved kitty went missing and was later found dead, shot to death.

My vote is that we out this neighbor.

We had a similar situation. We had a dog door and a new kitty just let herself inside for our can’t food.

She actually got to the point where she’d come in my room for cuddles and a nap in the middle of the night.

But something wasn’t right. Her coat was a little too nice.

So I bought a collar and put a nice note on it with my phone number. The owner called, very upset. He had no idea that his cat was adopting other families.

We found a kitten while living in the same house. For two weeks, we put up signs and asked our neighbors about it.

Finally we found someone who knew the owner. He was overrun with cats and kittens and didn’t say anything because he was hoping we’d keep it.

We did!

Son, welcome to the world. Stand up for your principles, be prepared to deal with people who have none.

"I’m sorry, but I don’t think I’ll be pinging this one. This is too depressing."

Sincere thanks for that. I can't even bring myself to go to the link.

Sazama said he even understood why the neighbors trapped the cat; he hadn't known that Toothless had been visiting the neighbors' sandbox and leaving different kinds of presents there.

I better not say a thing, other than a sob story can be created based on a totally absurd set of circumstances, where presumed rational adult human beings are involved.

Clearly, the priceless kitty had never received routine health care.

You didn't read it carefully:

"Toothless, a fluffy, black cat who roamed the cow pasture next door and often brought home "presents" of field mice"

Yes, good mouser cats should be trapped and killed...(/more than sarcasm)

Sigh...yeah. Cats do tend to run out when the door is open.

and neutering doesn’t seem to help the male cats; We just lost two of our male housecats here last month: Our cat Precious is still missing and presumed dead, and we found our cat Whitey dead in the guest bedroom’s bathroom...it looks like he had been mauled by a dog and came home to die...

Luckily, old MamaCat is still with us. She is neutered...

My daughter had a neighborhood kitty that went back and
forth between three houses. She talked to her neighbors
and they all agreed that kitty was a real charmer. He
lives with daughter mostly full time now.

My neighbor has cat from hell. I’ve feed the little monster
when he travels, until right after I fed her, she attack
me and left an ugly scar on my leg. Just out of the blue,
I’d been watching her on and off for over a year. He even
calls her Mean little kitty now. She bites him every now
and then but he loves her.

Yup. We have 4 cats.. Well.. 3 now if he never comes home. Sad part about it. He was MY cat. The one that always sat on my lap, slept with me and kept my toes warm.

The other 3 could care less about me unless the bowl is empty or the box is full.

So the heck with them. I’m getting a dog. Always wanted one but I work strange hours and can’t let one out at regular times. My wife is now a stay at home mom and is rarely gone. She said 2 years ago “when one of the cats die, you can get a dog”. I’ll give him at least 2 months to come back. (and yes, I have been looking for him and asking everyone in the area if they have seen him) Then it’ll be the end of the year and the dead if winter. If he has not come home by then I doubt he ever will.

It’ll probably accomplish 2 things getting a dog. I’ll get a dog and the cat will come back. Murphy’s law and all.

I am thinking a Basset hound. We had one when I was a kid. I loved that dog.

My next door neighbor. The only Obama supporter in 10 square miles use to let his dog shyt in my front yard where my kids play.

I asked him nicely.

I demanded.

I started leaving his dogs shyt on his steps.

his dog stopped coming by to do his business.

I never thought about killing/trapping the dog. It’s his owner that was the problem.

Go to the pound and rescue a dog, and yes that’s when the cat shows back up.
