Debate Wrap: How Is It Going Around the Water Cooler this Morning?
self | jimjohn

Like many of my freepers, I am forced to work amongst some border-line commies. You know, the better enlightened yet less informed ilk who feel it’s fair to drool their political slobber around me. You see, most of them think that since I’m a member of that ethnic group who is expected to vote 99.9% for the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, they ASSUME I’m not bothered by their political ignorance.

The debate result won’t change the minds of committed lib Democrats. What it did do is open the eyes of millions of apathetic Americans who might never have seen or heard Romney before, at least not clearly, and saw him look more presidential than the president. Obama is supposed to be the smartest person in every room, the greatest genius to ever inhabit the White House. But last night, much of the time, he looked like a little kid being lectured by an adult.

Lib #2 said that Obama took a deliberate dive (!!), underperforming by design, so that he could come back strong on the next debate.

Noah Webster should remove whatever example he has in his dictionary for "rationalization" and substitute the above comment.

I got one Libby who says she didn’t watch the debates, but seems to know an awful lot about them... Anyway, she says that it was really not that bad. I told her the Maher tweet (Wow! He really does need a telepropmter), and that shut her up. She’s pouting now...

I got another Libby who says if the election were tomorrow, he would vote for Romney. But he is pretty sure that Obama will win him back before election day.

It was only an hour and a half. I know, with Obama droning on and on for 47 minutes of it (yes he got 4 minutes more than Romney) it seemed like two hours.

I wouldn't know. Obama was instrumental in my layoff 2 years ago

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you are doing as well as can be.

“I saw a poll in which people overwhelmingly said the debate would not change their vote.”

And I saw a live group of swing voters in Colorado which showed that the independents were rushing to the Romney camp, while even some who voted for Obama in 2008 were joining the stampede. To quote Joe Biden: "This is a big f***ing deal!"

Romney grabbed Obama by his big ears and swept the floor with him for 2 hours straight...it was great!!!

All of a sudden, I've got the image of the Hulk (from the Avengers movie) smashing Loki into the pavement over and over again, running through my head.

This is the image:

Be careful. When the illusion fails the executions begin.

DAYTON OHIO GOT A SHOUT OUT! The majority opinion around my water cooler is that Mitt won and did it well. Swayed a few people too!

Speaking of his ears....I noticed they were bright red during most of the debate. Very telling.

I’ve seen two commentators saying Obama won. Both blacks. The 96% seems to be holding.

That's the same mentality that got O.J. acquitted, despite enough DNA evidence to sink The Titanic.

While Obama may not “improve” in the debates, one thing is for SURE to happen in the next two and that is that the, ahem, “moderators” will be given their marching orders to help Obama in any way possible.

Obama was “tired”

Defending the indefensible is exhausting.

I work from home so FR is my water cooler.

From what I can tell, the trolls have run for cover and most of the debbie-downers have calmed down. For now.

I’ve been optimistic that Romney will receive the most votes.

I am, however, very panicked that Obama will win the election, especially with that rumor going around that the diebold electronic votes will be counted in Spain. Did anyone here ever determine if that is indeed the case?

There is also the whole absentee ballot scandal currently going on, disenfranchising our entire military voters who are not currently in the U.S.

Obama was “tired” and more worried about his anniversary. Ha!

I thought Obama's opening line was a complete BUST! It was a nice sentiment making mention of the anniversary, but then to say "thankfully, next year we won't have to share it with 40 million people." Well, sorry to spoil your day, Mr. President!
