At least you have made a difference in her life. I will miss her when I visit again.
Speaking of visits, this is the year I’m supposed to visit my son for James’ birthday, and I was afraid he (son) really didn’t want me there. So I called him a few nights ago, and asked him if it was OK. He said sure, as long as I didn’t stay longer than three days. *gr-r-r-r-r*
Anyway, today, I checked the flight and price availability and I think if I am careful I can buy the tickets next payday. I hope. I sure don’t want to disappoint my grandson. As it happens, his birthday is on Sunday, this year, so that will be good. I told my son if I could leave the last Wednesday in Nov, I could fly home on Monday. “Fish and company should be thrown out after three days.”
You can stay here longer than 3 days! I hope it works out for the trip to AR for your grandson. If you lived in Oklahoma, you’d practically be there already.
I’m so tired, and it’s only Thursday! Tonight, tomorrow, and Saturday we have multiple children’s activities in different places at the same time. Thank God I can bilocate!
We worked on building a model Smaug at the Hobbit Club today. At the moment, it looks kind of like a headless anole that’s dropped its tail, but we’ll do the head, tail, and wings next week.
We listened to a “dramatized” recording of the chapter, and Mrs. Flemings and I didn’t think Smaug was done right. Not smooth and plausible ... far too slurpy, as if Santana were talking with a mouthful of crickets. I thought maybe the voice of Ricardo Montalban would work, but we decided that was too smooth. I think Barack Obama would be a good Smaug: greedy, self-centered, egotistical and destructive ... persuasive to the confused, envious, and not-very-bright ... acquisitive, but with no taste.
