No thanks necessary!
You will be notified in plenty of time to arrange for the delivery of your eldest child to the Flying Castle, for his/her “indoctrination.”
;o]
PS: How did you find us, anyway? (Just curious.)
We don't argue religion, royalty, sex or mystery (including politics) but we will listen when a person needs to vent because other threads are far too heated to participate.
Thanks, Darks, for bringing us another sacrificial virgin! poster! ;o]
Our goal is to emulate Callahan's Crosstime Saloon, (Spider Robinson, no relation to Jim Thompson).
At Callahan's, you're not allowed to ask nosy questions, but if you have something to get off your chest, just step up to the chalk-line and make a toast.
"Perception is reality." But "The map is not the territory."
What this means is that if you open up a road-map in front of you while you're driving, the reality is that you're about to crash.
LOL! Bob! Don’t be shy. Tell us what you REALLY think!
Moose, if we don’t like what you are saying, we will drink the official Undead Thread/FreeRepublic whiskey until we DO like what you are saying! :o]
Survived pre-Advent shopping crowds and returned with candles, pretzels, and wine. Also Pat’s Christmas present from Frank (who can make Pat a card ;-), and some spinach, and toys for the 3-year-old from the “giving tree” at the aquatic center.
The cashier said most people were finding they were out of Advent candles (three purple and one pink), but I wanted a shape most people didn’t like (cylindrical, rather than tapered). WIN.
Here the shop assistant would merrily tell you that you had either:'Got one out of the wrong box' or 'This one doesn't match the others'.
Oh boy how low have things sunk.
Hobby Lobby has loose candles in bins, various diameters and lengths in a substantial array of colors. You can buy Advent candle sets, but they might not fit your wreath, right? I’ve had mine more than 20 years: it’s just a heavy glass ring with spaces for 4 candles, but it needs thicker candles, not dainty ones.
Welcome back from the Saturday-Shopping-Mayhem. While I was sorting papers this morning, I found ALL of the photos you have sent of ALL the children, and realized that this is the first time they are all in the same place at the same time! LOL!
When I visit in the Spring, I will bring my really good camera (freecycle.com) and take photos as often as I can so that I can compare them with what I have. I need a separate album for said photos.
I realized today that I would probably be better off buying looseleaf folders for the paperwork I have, than what I am using at the current time to keep things separate. If I can, I will get to a thrift store and buy up whatever binders they have.
Giving Trees are very popular here, and as a matter of fact, Las Vegas Valley is one of the most generous places I have ever lived. I LIKE it!
As for candles, I prefer cylindrical. Period. Tapers burn too quickly.
Definitely! With the Advent wreath, the first candle is lit all through Advent, so if you don't have the right candles, the first one can be gone before you get to the 4th one. This year is a short Advent: the 4th Sunday is followed by Christmas Eve on Monday and Christmas on Tuesday!
Thanks, Bob! If I had the whatzit to post that, I would have done it. Sionnsar had to negotiate with the owners of the site to use the label. And what an awesome label it is!
We’ve got the tree at the gym, and the one at church, for the refugee families, will go up this weekend. We’ll get a card from that one, too. I usually pick an adult gift, since lots of people have more fun shopping for a child. Last year, iirc, we got a tool kit for a man from Africa.
If I can swing it in January, I’ll order an Advent calendar kit from one of the craft sites. I’ve been promising myself that I would hang one that I made for many years. Perhaps 2013 is The Year. ;o]
I love Advent!
Just get really big taper candles.
And to all ya
Why are we still here?
What whiskey is that ,originally?
Sorta reminds me of an anthropologist among the Inuit. After spending months with them asking zillions of questions about every detail of their lives and culture it suddenly occurred to him that they’d never asked him a single question about his.
So he asked why.
They blandly answered that in their culture it was considered the height of rudeness to ask personal questions, that if someone wanted you to know about themselves they would volunteer the information.
Mortified, the anthropologist apologized for all the prying he had done and assured them that he meant no offense.
To which they replied, we figured that it was perfectly OK in your culture and therefore took no offense...
4K? Por que?
Now four kay?
