“Elsewhere, St. Paul refers to the Church as the pillar and foundation of truth.
Not today’s church that is embroiled into the apostasy! And I am sorry, but telling me that Jesus did not speak in doctrinal language just does not cut it! If this was such a critical issue for salvation, he CERTAINLY would have addressed it at least in a parable form, which is what he did about forgiveness and other critical topics that are needed for our salvation. I have proven my point within the bible. Will anyone here be humble enough to admit or see this?
When did the gates of hell prevail against the Church, the pillar and foundation of truth, that wrote, canonized and preserved the Bible?
Where does your standard for judging the truth of doctrine come from?
From a logical perspective, at the very least, the Bible should claim to be the only standard by which truth should be judged. It doesn’t.
The standard that you have adopted, “the Bible alone,” is Luther’s alone. He had no authority to promulgate this novel teaching.
See if you can find a historical reference to Luther’s doctrine prior to his time, or in the Bible.
