"Piss Christ": When anti-religious art projects were ok and FUNDED by the US Government
NEA info ^ | 9-12-12

On the anniversary of 9-11, Muslims have attacked U.S. diplomatic compounds in Egypt and Libya. The attacks have resulted in the death the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three of his staff. US Embassies in Algeria and Tunisia are warning about additional protests.

The attacks have come in response to a film critical of muhammad, the founder of islam.

In response to the attacks, President Obama began his statement with the line: "While the United States rejects efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others,..."

Really? Isn't this the same government that funded "Piss Christ"?

From wiki: "Piss Christ is a 1987 photograph by the American artist and photographer Andres Serrano. It depicts a small plastic crucifix submerged in a glass of the artist's urine. The piece was a winner of the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art's "Awards in the Visual Arts" competition, which was sponsored in part by the National Endowment for the Arts, a United States Government agency that offers support and funding for artistic projects. The piece caused a scandal when it was exhibited in 1989, with detractors, including United States Senators Al D'Amato and Jesse Helms, outraged that Serrano received $15,000 for the work, part of it from the taxpayer-funded National Endowment for the Arts. Christians won’t kill you when you offend them.

That’s why muslims get apologies and Christians get told to ESAD.

Book of Mormon wins awards.

Hollywood tells Christians “1st Amedment” over Last Temptation of Christ.

Muslims insulted? We condemn... The Americans exercising their right to free speech!

Great example. Nice post.

I might add that despite the small and simple nature of the NEA, and the completely obvious unconstitutional nature of the central government funding such an entity, and notwithstanding the “Contract with America” which promised to end the NEA but ended up being mostly hot air despite Republicans taking over both houses of Congress), that the pathetic NEA STILL EXISTS. Conservatives have been “unable” (unwilling? Heaven forbid, it’s OK to piss Christ but not to piss off Hollywood) to get it eliminated even as a TOKEN of a needed return to constitutional government.

From the NEA web site, which you and I are forced to pay for (at the point of government guns which you and I also pay for):

http://www.nea.gov/about/index.html

“The National Endowment for the Arts was established by Congress in 1965 as an independent agency of the federal government. To date, the NEA has awarded more than $4 billion to support artistic excellence, creativity, and innovation for the benefit of individuals and communities. The NEA extends its work through partnerships with state arts agencies, local leaders, other federal agencies, and the philanthropic sector.

don’t forget the Brooklyn Museum of Art, a taxpayer funded museum, with an expose’ that included a piece of “art” where dog sh!t was flung at a picture of Mary, the Virgin Mother of God...of course when Rudy Guiliani spoke out against it and tried to stop public funding he was painted as the bad guy...

of course we must not also forget niki menaj mocking the Catholic Church at the Grammy Awards this year, which drew a big yawn from the PC media...

Thank you for this reminder...
this truly demonstrates that Christianity, alongwith other religions, is a religion of peace.

The famous child nudes were "Jesse McBride" and "Rosie." I just remember because I had friends of the same name. Not the subjects of this child erotica, however.

Art. You know.

As Jesus is revered by Islam as Jehu—Shouldn’t this insult them? He is seen as greater than Mohamed. Also the Dung picture of Mary? I bet these “Artists” were at the DNC Convention yelling to keep God off the Platform.
