Update: Put my patch on last night and so far so good.
I was warned about vivid dreams caused by the patch and boy howdy!
Any way, so far I’m still sane, and smoke free.
Update: I making very good progress but not perfection yet!
Yesterday started out great but ended in some disappointment.
I ended up smoking 8 gigs after a couple beers. But after smoking at least 2 pks a day, 8 is not a total failure.
Today is going much better. Not completely smokeless but only cig so far.
Bought an E-cig and that helps a bunch.
Hope others are doing well!
...only 1 cig so far.
one thing I did notice though...my concentration level is off probably do to change in my usual patterns.
Hi MCB,
I just thought about you and your quest using Chantix. I know you still get to smoke for the first week but thought I would check to see how you are doing too.
Next week should be your quit time and if you want keep in touch, maybe we can push each other through this.
Hang in there and good luck.
I am on the path but have delayed my start date. I know from quitting before that it is a matter of getting in the habit of forgetting. It gets easier.
Your situation is more difficult but not impossible.
Try the e-cigs with all the tricks and remedies. They do fill a void I thought I could whoop, no problem.
When your ready, let me know and I’ll explain how the e-cigs work.
Not perfect here either but I am working on it. I only had just under 2 packs left on Sunday Night and Monday was another day off. I am down to less than a half pack so will run out in the morning. I am going with the patch since I can not get an e-cig here. Congrats, it gets better.
I don’t have a clue where you live but almost anywhere that sells cigs sells e-cigs. They help to put the tabacco taste in your mouth and help with the puff and exhale habit. Also, save a couple of those smokes as an emergency backup so you don’t feel trapped.
Congrats to you as well!
I live in a very very small town, I work at the only place that sells cigs. I heard a rumor that a tobacco shop 65 miles away sells them but they were worried about coming regulations so they didn’t stock them. In Nov one of the things we vote on is tobacco regulations that would outlaw any cigs including e-cigs in any public place. I tried looking online but there were just too many choices and options and I just left confused. Keep up the good work.
They are just another crutch any way. You will do fine without one.
I had to take the patch off last night because of the dreams, so be prepared. Vicious little buggers but they work great during the day.
I have been taking the Chantix for 10 days now, and as of yesterday I can say that there were two occasions when I did not have a smoke when I usually would have. Maybe its working. Just starting a new job, and girlfriend has made my focus just a tad difficult. Maybe they have a pill for that also! LOL. How is the Chantix working for you?
MCB
I have e-cigs from cirrus. But the flavor is ok. Open to other brands and such. Reply or frepmail me. Thanks.
I have only one it’s called Krave. Bought it at Rite-Aide.
Supposed to taste like tobacco, but tastes like nut shells.
It works, but wouldn’t have stopped me smoking by itself.
Update: Doing well finally! E-cigs are turning out to be a bust so those are gone.
Having a hard time with concentration but that too is improving. No more urges for a lit cigarette but have one a day in the evening to help clear my thoughts.
How are the rest of you progressing?
How’s it going? You should be well over the nicotine withdrawal by now.
And don’t start sucking on candy as a substitute. That way lies tubbitude.
I quit for good 18 years ago this past May.
I used the patch, which at that time was prescription only and expensive. I was too damn cheap not to let it work.
I have also accepted the fact that I will never be skinny again, but even fatter, I am still healthier.
Try a new hobby to keep you mind occupied and you hands busy. You’ll have more money to spend on that hobby instead of cigs.
Well it is going good and bad!
I’ve been able to cut my habit in half to one pk a day but seem to have stalled there.
I need to re-focus on my true objective which is total victory over cigarettes.
Time to re-evaluate my methods and make changes.
See post 137...
Time to buck up and be a man!
Bump
You can do it Randy. I was a 3 pack a day smoker for over 30 years. I quit 8 years ago. It wasn’t easy. I wore 2-3 nicotine patches at a time and used a prescription nicotine inhaler. After I got over the urge to smoke I gradually weaned myself off the nicotine.
